WORST CALL IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.

I'm not so sure. I don't think its clear even from the replay that Ronny got the bag with his foot.

The point is, players get the call lots of times even if their foot never gets within a 10 inch radius of the bag.

Maybe, but as a rule of thumb the close calls always go to the home team.

Unless you're the Cardinals.

can we get guzman or hill in the rotation, please?

Whomever can get the ball over the freaking plate with consistency gets my vote. Seven walks for Marmol tonite? Jesus. Does Rothschild give out give out backrubs for each BB or something?

two were intentional, but the way he was going tonight, he may have walked those guys anyway.

i just don't see the sense in having two raw guys who have barely pitched at AA in the rotation when you've got a 26 year old hill and proclaimed savior in guzman in AAA.

I don't disagree. I would give Guzman the nod just to use him before he gets injured again. Then Hill can have his spot.

I think perhaps the bigger issue is why EACH of these guys, by and large, regress when Dusty/Rothschild/Pole get their hands on them. Marmol was spectacular early, but has faded equally spectacularly. Sure, its the majors rather than AAA. But, you would think the talent of one of these guys would have a shelf life of more than one or two games in the Show.

On the replay, Cedeno's foot missed the bag by 8 inches...it wasn't even close.

The last replay showed him drag his foot on the bag as he was throwing to 1st.

I'm watching on FSN SW so we got different replays I guess, the replays they showed had him throwing rather flat-footed and I never saw him drag his foot.

The replay on the Astros network clearly showed that he did not touch the second base before or during his throw. The ump had that call right.

Btw why does Dusty even come out and argue calls. It is rather embarrassing when he just stands out there with his head down looking like he is talking to the ground.

Players might get that call from time to time, but you certainly can't rely on always getting that call. It's called fundamentals; if you get your foot clearly on the bag, you don't even need to worry about which way the call is going to go.

Unless you told the Ump to go to a restaurant and the service was really bad.

Well I think it's obvious that most shortstops or second basemen turning the DP are more concentrated on getting the throw to first rather than stepping of second.

Actually it is not uncommon for coaches to teach the allusion of swiping the bag.

And rightfully so because fundamentals are things that should come 2nd nature by the time you reach the big leagues. He needs to know where he is on the field and be able to make the play. I'd expect a big league SS/2B to know how to find the bag without looking for it, and be able to pick up the runner and his target as he's moving.
