Fun fact: 4 out of 5 agree cobs suck. 1 out of 5 has been dead for 6 months.

The two are not mutually exclusive. Even the dead think this team is horrible.

Had the Cubs lost yesterday, they would have been swept in 9 of their last 17 series.

Discuss.

Too late, I don't need that stat to tell me that this team is really, really, really bad!

Have to hand it to Jim Hendry, I would have never guessed he could get so little bang for this buck, but this team keeps proving this over and over again. It does not look like things are going to get better any time soon.

I know, I know, the horses, the horses.....unfortunately most of them seem to be nothing more than a bunch of nags.

I rather like the idea of sending a number of guys on this team to the glue factory.

If the team doesn't get any better when all these guys come back, would you call it a horsegag?

I was thinking we could call the team that plays in Wrigley the CUBJ, completely useless by June.....or July, take your pick.

I was sure this thread was going to be about the fact that we walked 7, yep 7 times today and still managed to lose.

My bad.

Yeah, that's the true depressing stat in my mind. They finally draw some base on balls, and still end up losing.

But, even the better OBP teams in the league lose games after drawing a lot of walks. But, if they were to somehow keep up that pace, I think they'd actually win more than they lose.

Instead, Dusty will be able to use the "walks clog the bases" argument all over again.

Interestingly enough, the guys who you would rather be making contact are the guys drawing most of the walks. So, there is that argument.

Instead of Lee walking 3 times, how about Pierre?

Never happen. Pierre is such a non-threat with a bat, pitchers aren't afraid to run every pitch right down the heart of the plate.

I bet the Cubs don't draw more than 2 walks in any game for the next week.

I find it funny watching these guys complain, and complain some more. Getting swept and beaten so badly just proves that losing is a disease, and it affects great players like DLee and Prior, too...

Cancer isn't as powerful as losing is...talk about infectious...

I would think January would be most appropriate.

Hi guys! I'll tell you what the walks did accomplish yesterday though, they allowed us to score some cheap runs; especially the two that Jones drove in after that error prolonged the inning. Without those walks, the game wouldn't have been close.

But they scored 4 runs and how many times can they say that?

Oh definitely. But it won't be looked at that way, unfortunately. We walked seven times yesterday and lost, therefore walks are discouraged. You can't walk across home plate, the name of the game is to hit.
