Marmol looking sharp, and two line drive hits back to back, Ramirez thrown out at second trying to stretch a double, and then a Nevin single line drive.

Brad Lidge is pitching in the 7th inning in Detroit - what's the deal with that. Boy Pettite sucks this year.

Their closer is getting some work in a non-save situation???

They have an off day tomorrow so they want to make sure he gets work. He hasn't pitched since his miserable outing against the Cubs on Sunday night.

Edit to say Sox.....whoops!!

what are the odds that Ramirez doesn't come out for the top of the 5th.......anyone else want to bet he strained a muscle trying to stretch that single?

It was hit so hard that it bounced off the wall fast to a very prepared Carlos Lee who sent it back to second base. Combination of a solid hit and good defending sunk that double.

And a perfect throw by Lee.

It was a very nice play. Aramis did the right thing in trying for a double.

You've got to tip your cap to Carlos Lee. :D

Wait, what? Carlos Lee might be the worst defender on the team. Yes, I am aware that he's on a team with Rickie Weeks and Bad Chad Moeller.

Bottom 5, game thread's only at 4 pages. Either this team sucks or everyone's extrememly busy today.

Could be both??

Yeah, what's with the false dilemma? :)

Thru 5 innings both pitchers have thrown 70 pitches. Bush with 5 hits and 1 run, Marmol wth 1 hit and no runs. This is a real pitchers duel so far.l

I just showed up, and there are two things of note:

Carlos Marmol is on, and that's cool

and

JUAN PIERRE HIT A HOMER! That's ridiculous. I'm also sort of enjoying the fact that it's currently the only run on the board.

Haha, are you serious? Pierre with a home run? That's awesome.

I was driving and heard on the radio that the Cubs were up 1-0 on a Juan Pierre homer...............needless to say I almost got into an accident.......whoooooooosh.........close one.

According to Clay Davenport's fielding metric, Lee is well below average this year, but over his career he's only been slightly below average in LF.

He was a very good defensive 3B in the minors, for what it's worth.

Clay Davenport is a idiot.

Clay Davenport is a idiot.

That was constructive.

Are you still drunk from last night? :D

Anyway, here are defensive ratings at BBTF:

Again, Carlos will cost the Brewers about 8 runs over the course of the season.

Compare that to Jacque Jones, who will cost the Cubs 4 runs over the course of a season. I'm glad Jim got us a guy who can catch the ball.
