So far, we've lost 11 in a row.

From today's Post-Gazette:

Check out the pitching:

Chicago's rotation will be Mark Buehrle, Freddy Garcia and Jose Contreras, whose cumulative record is 25-8. Contreras, the brilliant Cuban import making headlines with his 8-0 start, has lost once in his past 25 outings dating to last season.

Detroit has Kenny Rogers, the winningest pitcher in the American League at 10-3, opening that series Friday. He is followed by dynamic youngsters Jeremy Bonderman and Zach Miner, a combined 11-5.

And the first two games at Shea Stadium? Yes, Pedro Martinez and Tom Glavine, who annihilated the Pirates there two months ago.

Traschel throws for the Mets this Sunday. Maybe we have a chance to stop the streak at 19.

That first overall pick has been locked up.

The Royals might have something to say about that.

Hell, the Cubs might have something to say about that!

I'm not so sure. Maybe we just salvaged our season today. Voglesong was DFA'd. Maybe we'll win some games now.

Hendry signing Vogelsong to a 3 year deal in 3....2....1....

12 losses in a row yet only three games from fifth place. We Cub fans are in no position to joke about the Royals or Pirates. In fact, I believe the Royals have a good record over their last twenty games. Something I wish I could say for the Cubs.

The Royals play in the AL and in a tough division. Guarantee they would mop the floor with us.

Well, looks like the Pirates could possibly break their losing streak tonight. Currently, top of the seventh with the Pirates winning 3-0.

But, the big news is that Craig Wilson left the game in the sixth inning. Iguchi ran into Wilson's glove hand at first and it didn't look good.

So they could win the game, but lose a valuable trade commodity.

Sox tied it 3-3. Phew that was fast!

Hawk and DJ commending each other and taking credit because they called it.

And the closer on my fantasy team (Jenks) decides to give up a couple singles (destroying his WHIP for this week) to get my left fielder (Bay) up... then promptly strikes him out to record the save.

I hate when that kind of crap happns...

What's so surprising about calling it? This team is good, charmed, and they're playing Pittsburgh.

And Contreras dodges an L.

How 'Bout Steady Freddy? 4 for 5, raising his avg to .363, including that walk off HR!

Has the League leader in BA ever played for a last place team?

I would think Tony Gwynn probably did it sometime in his career considering the Padres had some bad teams.

Billy Buckner and Bill Madlock did it for the Cubs.

Larry Walker did it in 2001.

Ichiro in 2004.

So uh....countdown until he's traded?

He's not even eligible for Arbitration yet.
