Izturis for Ramirez?

What about Izturis and LaRoche for Ramirez? In 2007 put Izturis at SS, Cedeno at 2B, EPatt at Iowa, and then in 2008 decide which two of the three you want to keep.

Replace Izturis with Kemp, Guzman, or Billingsley, and it would be a deal. Izturis is not a GOOD player. He is a younger Nefti Perez.

The Dodgers wouldn't make that trade (and if I were them, I wouldn't).

I think a feasible deal would be LaRoche and Miller for Ramirez, Williamson (once he's healthy), and low prospect. Btw CR, why isn't Miller starting in Las Vegas right now?

After the injuries, his arm doesn't have the stamina to throw hard for a full start but he has the ability to keep the velocity in relief appearances and his arm has handled being used multiple times a week. He's been clocked at 97 mph this season. He's been in the mix to be called up a few times with the back end of the Dodgers pen struggling and Gagne hurt.

By the way, Andy LaRoche suffered a slight tear of the labrum a few weeks ago. Right now, he's been resting the arm and trying to avoid surgery, but it's still a possibility.

Damn, he does sound like someone the Cubs would trade for. I haven't really followed him closely, what type of injuries has he had. Also, is there any hope of him regaining the stamina to be a starter or is likely a reliever from this point on?

The Evil Stoney said yesterday that the Dodgers would be a team that has interest and $$$ to deal for ARam. He said that Bill Mueller won't be back and that Ned Colletti may be looking to acquire an impact 3rd baseman. He felt that Cesar Izturis is being dangled, but it would take more young Dodger players to get ARam. Stoney said a Cedeno/Izturis infield is one that 'lasts for 10 years'. He also mentioned that Maddux could wind up in LA too. He felt Nevin and Todd Walker would be traded.

it's statements like these that cause me to ignore whatever stone says about anything anymore.

until cedeno learns that striking out is not the end of the world, he's going to be average, and izturis is absolutely terrible, just terrible.

this team's problem is that it can't get on base or score runs and stone thinks it can be fixed by bringing in izturis? what stupidity, stone has lost his mind--even brenly offers more accurate insight into the game.

stoney should stick to talking aboout how bad wood's mechanics are.

Izturis is hardly terrible. He was an All-Star SS last year. When was the last time we had one?......I thought so.

Stoney has said the Cubs need to make a number of deals with the thought 'does this make the Cubs closer to the World Series'. Even if Izturis is a placeholder for Eric Patterson for two years, he's an improvement over what we have. Hendry can probably move 10 players in the next month. I don't see one everyday player in our minor leagues ready to go. Do you?

I know having Stoney puncture your Kerry Wood dreams is tough but deal with it.

Since when does being an All-Star one time make someone a great player?

How is Izturis and improvement over what we have? Depending on where you put him, he's going to have to replace either Ramirez or Walker's production. He's not capable of it. Ramirez has been solid at 3B to boot. I really don't see how Izturis is an upgrade at all.

This is simple for me. If the Dodgers want ARam enough to trade two of the players below (1 in group A, 1 in B) for him, then it is in the Cubs interest to make the move. I wouldn't expect them to do it, but if they're not willing to pay that price then it doesn't make any sense from the Cubs side of things.

Group A (3B replacements):

Andy LaRoche

Joel Guzman

Group B:

Matt Kemp

Andre Ethier

Russell Martin

Chad Billingsley

Of course, with the play of the Dodger's young OF's, it might make some sense to trade oft injured players and swap Ramirez for Drew...

Package Billingsly+Murton and whomever to get Cabrera from Florida-

Yeesh. I was hoping someone would pipe up and explain that LaRoche needs to have his shoulder sewn back on, and Miller only recently had his shoulder sewn back on.

Miller thinks he's a reliever from here on out:

My arm bounces back very well on this current program and I'm probably always going to be a pen guy from now on. I'm fine with that. Hey, I'm just happy to be talking about what's happening on the field and not answering questions about how my rehab is going.

He's had two shoulder surgeries (not to the labrum or rotator cuff). The first was in ST 2004 and the second in the offseason between 2004 and 2005.

From what I've heard, the Dodgers won't trade Billingsley or Kemp to anyone but the Marlins (for Willis or Cabrera).

As I watch the Yankees and Braves on ESPN, I can't help but think that we could get Arod. The fans are booing him mercilessly. Maybe a 3-way trade where we give them Aram and help them get Willis from Florida by sending some prospects, along with Yankee prospects, Florida's way.

I just don't get it, and I've had it explained to me by friends of mine in New York who are Yankees fans. The guy is one of the greatest offensive forces in history of the game, and you're not happy with him? Please send him here.

Cubs: ARod

Yanks: ARam, Willis, Walker/Jones

Marlins: Hughes, Pie, Aardsma

yep, izturis was so good that the dodgers threw a ton of money at furcal in the offseason.

.265/.295/.338/.633

basic stats, but nothing i assume you'd know anything about.

as for wood, well, an oft-injured wood is better than an always healthy rusch-type pitcher, which is really all that's out there.
