hey is sergio mitre still playing?

His line this year was 1-4, 4.89 ERA before going onto the 60-day disabled list with shoulder tendinitis that was revealed by an MRI.

Pat was looking through the rulebook and it stated a runner can't run more than 3 feet in either direction from a straight line drawn base to base unless it is to avoid contact.

Like Kasper pointed out, it should be irrelevant since the tag was made.

talk about a guy the cubs totally misused, trying him in the bullpen like utter morons...

Yeah. I mean, look what happened when they did that to Zambrano.

In other news, Ricky Nolasco went 6 1/3 gave up 3 runs struck out 5 and walked 1 and got the win. He now has a 3.26 ERA.

Man Pierre sure is worth it.

If Pierre had been performing to his career levels before this year, I would have been fine with that trade.

His 11 RBI are CRUSHING Zambrano's numbers by 5. In nearly 300 more At Bats.

[sarcasm]Yea I'll take him after his last year [/sarcasm]

My favorite comments from the Brew Crew's announcers

That's the kind of poor fundamental play that has killed the Cubs this season.

And (insert announcer's name), it has been their veterans that have been responsible today.

(After Zambrano leads off the bottom of the seventh with a hit)...I guess pitch counts don't apply to Zambrano as he leads off the seventh despite throwing 104 pitches already.

Neifi Perez to the plate (bottom of the seventh), turns around to hit lefty. His average just dropped 100 points (Perez predictably pops out on the infield).

Just some examples of things they have said that indicate they know more about the Cubs than MacPhail/Hendry/Dusty.

How can two run of the mill announcers have a better read on this team (in watching the Cubs play all of 5 or 6 times) than the Cubs GM, manager, coaches, etc? I find it absolutely amazing that these guys have pinpointed some of the (many) Cubs ailments but no one that is employed by the Chicago National League Ball Club can identify any problems.

Who is he even talking about? Nolasco never pitched at MLB and I don't think ever used him from the pen.

I think they mean contact as in collision. For instance, if Cedeno was in the basepath but didn't have the ball. Which is crap anyway, since a collision wasn't imminent, he was just dodging the tag.

Why is Zambrano pitching? There's no reason for him to still be in the game, you guys have a bullpen for a reason.

Mitre, a sinker baller, and sinker ballers are typically not good out of the bullpen because it takes an inning or 2 to get the sinker locked in.

Dusty has made it his life goal to destroy Zambrano's arm.

Well he'll accomplish the Trifecta and destroy a once promising starting rotation completely. Might as well go out leaving the place in total shambles.

the cubs threw mitre in the bullpen last year after he made a bad start, which was ill-advised for a sinkerball-type like mitre, and led to further disastrous results when they brought him in after a few weeks of inactivity then he was predictably dead to the cubs after that misuse -- too bad about his shoulder injury tho

The Brewers announcers are quite good IMO, all though Billy Shroeder is a little bit of a whiner.

They never hesitate to compliment or criticize the other team accurately, and they never sugar coat their own players mistakes.

Why take him out if he's still in control of the game?
