The last time the Cubs lost 100 games in a season and went 59-103 that year. The 2006 Cubs are currently on pace for 100 losses for the year.

1966 was the infamous year when new manager Leo Durocher proclaimed that the Cubs were not an 8th place team, then proved himself right by finishing 10th. That season was followed by six consecutive winning seasons, however.

Hey, if that ends up happening with this years team, I don't care if the Cubs lose every game for the rest of the year.

A school chum of mine and I treated our fathers to a Fathers' Day doubleheader in 1966 against the Houston Astros. The CUBS, of course, responded by losing both games. Ah.... the memories !!

How nice would it be if we had the MLB record for most wins in a season, AND most losses in a season!!??
I think that's out of reach. The 1962 Mets lost 120 games.

I think we can go 13-76 the rest of the way!

Keep batting Perez second and Walker 8th...that is 13-76 type managing.

This reminds me slightly of the Cubs ad campaign going into the 2002 season:

Fresh off the trade for Crime Dog in '01 and finishing 88-74, the slogan for '02 was "Forecast: High 90's". I cringed when I saw that; the baseball gods are fickle and they love irony. Sure enough, the Cubs LOST 95 games in '02.
