We're kicking your ass on this one. 10 in a row! (Or is it 11? I've stopped counting)

And, the ChiSox coming to town tomorrow!

We'll have that first pick sewn up before the all-star break!

Which will use on a Pitcher. Who will blow his arm out before ever throwing a pitch in the majors.

This has been a depressing BandWGN thus far...the Royals have gotten hot though...

Get off the wagon.

We win this contest.

We were swept by the Royals. Need I say more?

The Bucs are letting us down  Just kidding ... no matter how bad things get I will never, ever root against the Cubs or hope they finish in last. I think I'm in the minority on this board in that respect...

I said that once myself. However, if losing would mean changes, I'm all for it. If 81-81 means more status quo, no thanks.

Losing has never meant changes for this franchise, why should it now?

I'm not in the "I hope they lose camp" just because of that.

Where were you in 2002? Losing definitely meant change. Baylor was sent packing. Hendry was brought in as GM and an interim manager finished up one of the most pathetic seasons in Chicago Cub history, one only comparable to the current 2006 season.

Hendry made some bold moves in 2003 to right the ship. Unfortunately, it's been a downhill slide ever since. He had the right idea in 2004, but injuries were part of the undoing. But, not the entire undoing. Since the end of 2004, it's been nothing but a debacle. Hendry has attempted to shift the team philosophy to emulate other teams that showed a short stint of success rather than use his team strengths and resources to further strengthen the team.

And I'm not attempting to sway your opinion. Just stating mine. I'm not a hater. I just want change. The threat of a Dusty extension hits too close to home with me.

I'll try to clarify my side of this. I believer firing Baker at this point is the best option. Some things are his fault, some aren't, but all in all it would be better for both Dusty and the Cubs to make a move. That being said, I don't think just changing managers will be the miracle drug, others will have to be made as well. I'm willing to give Hendry another year to see if he can figure things out.

My point about losing never meaning changes should have been clarified to say "losing has never equaled winning chages." Sure changes have been made, but more often or not they have just continued the status quo.

Maybe they should clean hose of both Baker and Hendry, who knows. I'm more inclined to give Hendry another chance though because he has proven to be a pretty good farm system builder and good eye for talen through trades (obviously he has made some questionable ones as well).

It boggles the mind that the pirates could snap a 13 game losing streak, and still only be 3 behind the cubs...

Ok, it doesn't boggle that much...

I'd like to take a second to thank everyone who made this possible:

Jake, you're tireless devotion to the Pirates is astounding. You deserve this second to last place team as much as we deserve this last place team.

Balsa, Bruno, BigB...thanks for contributing to the thread. You're my killer B's.

Lets not forget some of the earlier contributers: The San Diego Padres for double sweeping the Cubs earlier, The Atlanta Braves for that Memorial Day weekend sweep and of course everyone on our interleague schedule.

Thank you all, its been a blast. Hopefully we won't have to do this again next year.

NOT SO FAST, BUDDY!

We have Zach Duke starting today. And, if you can score 4 runs off of him in the first, as you did last time he pitched @ wrigley, then the cellar is all ours again!

Do you really think the Cubs can sweep the next two games? Two games in a row?

A win today would be a blip. The Baby Bears will be back where they belong.

Duke's career numbers against the Cubs:

WL: 4-1

ERA: 1.66

WHIP: 1.08

in 38 IP, including 1 complete game shutout.

So I'm thinkin his last Wrigley outing was the exception. I fully expect the Cubs to strengthen their hold on the cellar with a feeble outing today against the soft-tossing lefty.

Bad news everyone...the wheels are coming off the bandwagon as the Buccos are slumping and the Baby Bears are now comeback kids for the third time this year. Pirates lead on the Cubs down to .5 a game.

If the Cubs don't finish in last, I give even odds that Dusty is back.

Dusty isn't going to be back under any circumstances. I'd bet your life savings on it. :D
