Yesterday, the Rangers hit A.J. Pierzynski twice (good riddance). The White Sox sent out a rookie pitcher named Sean Tracey to pitch the next half inning... his third big league outing.

He throws the first two pitches fairly far inside, but not inside enough to hit Hank Blalock. He then retired Blalock on a ground out. Cameras caught Guillen flipping out in the dugout, slamming a water bottle to the ground. He then came out and removed Tracey from the 6-0 game. Once Tracey was back in the dugout, Guillen screamed at him while Tracey sat pitifully on the bench. The White Sox sent Tracey down after the game.

Guillen should be suspended for this - after all, why do you remove a guy from a game and scream at him after he gets an out in a game you're down 6 runs? It's pretty obvious he wanted the kid to bean Blalock. But, you do this to a guy in his third outing, and then embarrass him and shake his confidence in front of the entire team and everyone watching on TV? What a prick.

shatter the confidence of a rookie.

Don't trip on your skirt.

Enough. You've been here long enough to know better than to attack other posters.

Jimy. so you think the rook is a wuss 'cause he wouldn't hit the guy?

I also believe Guillen is a prick. Nobody, and I mean nobody has the right to publicly humiliate anyone like that. I would have punched Guillen right then and there.

I think the pitcher was a wuss because he didn't stand up to Guillen, the almighty.

I hope he learned a lesson, and I hope the next time he drops Guillen like a sack of potatoes.

It was terrible to snap on Tracey, but it was much worse to bean AJ TWICE. There was no history between them whatsoever.

That's fine, but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the actions of the White Sox manager, not the Rangers' pitcher. The Rangers pitcher hitting Pierzynski twice doesn't give any justification for berating your own players.

Absolutely. It was lousy and ridiculous of Ozzie and KW. They are both in the "old school", and I guess the justification was Tracey needed to "defend" his teammate. The problem, IMO, was that AJ had been his teammate all of one week. It was complete garbage of Ozzie to send him down, chewing him out was stupid, but to a much lesser extent. Both Ozzie and Williams are in the "old school", so they assume it is the duty of the player.

On an unrelated note, Tracey has looked alright since getting called up. Hopefully he can be the #5 when they let Garcia/Buehrle walk after 07.

It's never bad to hit Pierzynski. He should be hit at least once per game. As for the rookie pitcher, I wish he had picked up a ball and beaned Guillen.

I'd say the same for Barrett.

I just read about this on ESPN.com.

Ozzie Guillen is a punk for doing that to the rookie pitcher.

No one, good or bad, deserves to be publicly humiliated like that.

Nice f'ng job Ozzie......take your WS ring and......................

A lot of this probably had to do with the fact Showalter and Guillen hate each other. It's kinda sad Tracey's stint had to be ruined by a pissing match on who could be more "old school".

Tonight's game will be interesting, considering Buehrle isn't against plunking guys and he hates the Rangers (see: infamous "lights" conspiracy).

The Sox will be lucky if his confidence isn't broken by this incident, if they even give him another chance since his manager hates him. Wouldn't surprise me if he just went from "Sox prospect" to "trade bait" last night.

Who wins in a brawl? My money's on Texas.

I'm all for it if the upshot is Teixeira hitting more HR's.

...stupid HR derby...

If Guillen really wanted to light into someone, why not Vazquez? Why didn't Vazquez, who had nothing to lose by getting tossed, hit somebody? Shouldn't a veteran of Vazquez's status know the protocol in this situation? It really says something when your catcher gets nailed twice and your starting pitcher, who has ample opportunity to retaliate, doesn't defend him.

I'm really sick of the "old school" crap too. Many in baseball wonder why they are losing all of the premium athletes to other sports, and that's partly why. Christ, if every other sport stayed "old school", nobody in the NFL would be wearing real helmets with facemasks and, well, the NBA would still suck but at least they would shoot free throws underhand and wear shorts that show off their stuff.

Baseball keeps plodding along, too stubborn to change. Put your quick guys at the top, even if they can't get on base. Play the guys who've been there, even if they've sucked doing it. Ignore facts, even when they prove your experienced eyes wrong.

Ozzie can kiss my butt.

Meh, after watching "Kid gloves" Dusty for 3.5 seasons, its nice to see a manager with the balls to challenge a player publically when he doesn't do what the manager wants. This may be extreme, and probably on the side of uncalled for, but its a nice diversion from 'dude i dont challenge players in front of the cameras'

I can't figure it out. I thought the Sox wanted to take fans from the Cubs, but they seem to take so much delight in people hating them that they continue to do ass-clown trailer park trash crap like this. It astounds me.

I thought the 'Old School' way was the manager never told the player to do it. It just happened. Kinda like A Few Good Men, the General never admits to calling for the Code Red until he is on the witness stand. What Ozzie did is 'New School' to me.
