Hunter last year added the Chicago Cubs to the list of five teams in his no-trade clause because of the brick outfield wall in Wrigley Field. But he said he would waive the clause for Chicago, too. Hunter said he would not approve a trade to the other teams: Detroit, Tampa Bay and Toronto.

I would love to see the guy jumping up into the bricks and baskets at Wrigley....

Nah dude, he's got speed and athletic ability, as well as tremendous upside. A change of scenery will really help him earn the 400 million we throw at him over 23 years. Speed doesn't slump.

Plus, Neifi needs some new friends to play with in the starting lineup.

That said, anything is an improvement over Pierre, as long as Cedeno and Murton aren't sent away. If that happens, the Cubs might as well extend Dusty and find some other fans to take money from.

I would keep cedeno no matter what, as much as I like murton, hes not the answer in left field, hes not a guy who can get you to a world series, we need to start building up and get some guys with some power like carlos lee or soriano, those are guys that can take you to a world series ,that have alot of power and can scare pitchers like Derrek Lee

Same thing was said about Patterson last year yet the Cubs found someone that was. :P

One of the more overrated players in the game, IMO.

he'd be replacing the most overrated player in the game, so he'd be somewhat of an upgrade.

I wouldnt mind seeing Julio Lugo being picked up, and Leading off for us, But what do we do, trade walker and move Ronny to second?

he waved chicago and boston because they both have troubles with their outfielders, and both have plenty of money coming off books next year. This is a business decision for him not a personal playing preference

NM the fact that one of his GOOD buddies is already on the team....coughsJacques Jonescoughs. Nah, that didn't play a part in the decision.

And no, I don't want another Twin castoff on the Cubs.

Easy for me to say this, but I would rather have Tori Hunter patrolling centerfield than Juan Pierre.

Actually Hunter has somewhat of a hose out in center. Pierre can't hit worth a damn this season along with has the weakest arm I have ever seen out of a centerfielder.

Sure, trade them straight up and even out the salary owed by each team, and you'd have my support for the deal. The reality is he's probably much much much more expensive.

Every move should be evaluated to see whether or not it brings the Cubs closer to a WS title.

I don't see any move for Tori Hunter doing that.

Would be giving up Hill and Pierre plus a B prospect too much to ask?

I'm not sure that it is.

I don't think that gets it done, and I wouldn't do it unless the contract is split up great for the Cubs.

Here's some facts.

Hunter is being paid 10.75 million for this year and 12 million for 07 with a 2 million buyout option.

Juan Pierre is being paid 5.75 million for this year.

Hunter turns 31 this July. This year he has an OBP of .333 and .419 slg compared to career numbers of .321/.456

So, to get a declining, unproductive player, you'd have to take on ~ 2.5 million for the rest of this year and either have to pay him 12 million next year or buy him out for an additional 2. I'm assuming you'd want him for more than this year, considering this team likely isn't making the playoffs, so you would have to pay that amount.

The Twins could probably get more than a rent-a-player at his lowest value and a pitcher at low value and a B prospect. Not a good deal for either team.

I'd rather save that cash, sign a SP in the offseason and watch Felix Pie put up comparable numbers to Torii Hunter at the league minimum.

I didn't realize that Tori isn't that great of a hitter.

I guess I should have got lost into all of his great defensive plays. My bad on this issue.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse.....I really hope Hendry doesn't think this would be the move that puts the Cubs into contention.

Speed kills.....

If I'm reading this whole thing correctly, Hunter had a 5-team NTC in his contract, and he at some point nominated Chicago, Boston, Detroit, TB, and Toronto as the 5 he didn't want.

Now we come to find out that Chicago and Boston are no longer on Torii's "banned" list.

Doesn't that put CHC and BOS at 25th and 26th on his full priority list, with the 24 teams he didn't originally specify still ahead of them?

It hardly sounds to me like the guy is all gung ho to come here.
