The sentiments expressed here are all well and good, but the Cubs will not DFA Glendon Rusch. It just isn't going to happen, not with a contract that runs through next year.

That's how I see it too. The only thing is, if I buy a car and turns out to be a lemon I will do whatever I can to get rid of it and get something more reliable. The Cubs just try to make lemonade.

That's what they're going to have to do: hope some team needs a lefty and will pick up most, if not all of the contract.

Would the Cubs ever consider allowing THE FANS to buy out his contract? That way we have full rights to put him on the office softball team and be amazed how many desk jockeys hit HR's this year!

I'll give Hendry a big pat on the back if he finds another team to take Rusch and pay any of his contract.

The Marlins need a lefty in their pen, and the Cubs sure could use Cabrera.

This piece of crap is gonna start Tuesday...he is one of the worst long-term pitchers in the history of the league. Why is he not demoted into the bullpin yet?

Because he has the mgical ability to hurl a ball with moderate speed with his left hand.

I hate that some lefty that has a bit of heat can make millions of bucks while being absolutely worthless.

What do you give Hendry for giving Rusch that contract?

I think the Cubs could put Rusch in the back of the pen. He has the chance of being respectable if he pitches an inning or two at a time.

I'd donate $10 to help pay off Rusch's contract. In fact, I may even donate $25.

The sooner this guy is out of the picture, the more opportunities management has to evaluate young players and determine if they can be counted on for the future.

Hendry was a fool to give Rusch more than a one year contract at the minimum for years of service.

With Guzman back up, Dusty simply MUST start him instead of Rusch. Starting Rusch is in effect forfeiting the game that could give the Cubs their first four-game winning streak of the year. They're on a bit of a roll now; you simply don't derail that by starting Rusch.

Marshall pitches Tuesday for the 4 game streak. Glendon is scheduled for Wednesday against Oswalt. Gee, I wonder how that will turn out? :(

Barrett starts a fight with Oswalt in the top 2nd inning, both players are tossed. Rusch beans berkman in the bottom of the 2rd, both are tossed. guzman pitches the rest of the game and gives up 3 runs, hank white hits a gw grandslam in the top of the 9th.

but i could be wrong

The Astros would be batting in the top of the 9th.

I agree. He'll be pitching for specific situations. One or two LH batters, then he's out of there for Howry or Eyre.

Looks like the Cubs are skipping Rusch's turn in the rotation with the off day today.

Bruce Miles[/url]"]This and that: It looks like the Cubs will skip Glendon Rusch in the rotation instead of pitching him against Houston on Wednesday. Pitching coach Larry Rothschild said the Cubs likely would go with Sean Marshall, Greg Maddux and Carlos Zambrano. … Third baseman Aramis Ramirez did not play Sunday. He was hit on the right elbow with a pitch Saturday and could not throw Sunday. He’s expected to start Tuesday.

If I had 20 or so mph more on my throws, I could be a Major League pitcher! (I'm lefty)

Why do you think I insist on my son doing everything left-handed? As I tell my wife, you can be pretty bad but still makes lots of coin.
