Cubs take Joshua Lansford, 3B out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

 

at least the 2nd player from that school picked today (cards got a pitcher from there)

 

SLO had some talent this year.

Personal: Son of Carney and Debbie Lansford ... father played in Major Leagues for 15 years with three teams (California Angels, Boston Red Sox, Oakland Athletics) ... uncles Phil Lansford and Joe Lansford were Major Leaguers as well with Toronto Blue Jays and San Diego Padres, respectively ... one brother, Jared ... hobbies include ping pong... born July 31, 1984, in Livermore, CA ... majors in social science.

It's not like they were forced to only have 3 picks in 6 rounds. They put themselves in this position with offseason moves that have them 10 games under .500 and well out of the race.
