Were the minor league umps striking until recently? I seem to recall that and wondering if maybe Pie's been getting squeezed a lot lately and his plate discipline has actually been better then the results.

Pie's splits are still odd to me. He is hammering Lefties this year and hitting so-so against righties.

And Hill's night is done. Pie PHs for him and strikes out looking (he's been doing that lately).

7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 14 K, 86 pitches - 65.

I like the decision. Let him walk away from tonight's game with a bunch of confidence.

Confidence and the ability to listen to good advice are the only two things keeping Rich Hill from being a solid #3 or #4 starter in the majors.

Mitch Atkins pitched great for Peoria again tonight. He struggled a bit early, but Kane County had a tough time with him later on.

Even better, the Chiefs brought their bats tonight to give Mitch a bit of offense. They managed 3 earned off of Jared Lansford (who came into the game with a .90 ERA)

Good stuff! The icing on the cake was Ed Campusano's 16th save of the season.

Woo hoo! Go Chiefs :D

I just got back from the Iowa game.

Rich Hill looked great.

He didn't seem to be relying on his curve as much as he did during his stint in the big leagues, but that may be an incorrect perception on my part.

Question:

Why is Soto hitting behind Augie Ojeda?

Yes; they just reached an agreement. I believe the replacements are still umpiring, but the regulars should be back soon.

Hill himself said that he wasn't listening enough for his own good.

so i'm pretty much all aboard the Mitch Atikins bandwagon

6.0IP, 5H, 1ER, 2BB, 7KK

4-0 with a 1.95 ERA

Also i like that after trading off a couple of big time prospect arms, there are some new guys stepping up (Atkins, THE DON, Blackford etc.) I'd like to see some Pawalek action soon, but if this course of action is going to keep his arm healthy that would be awesome.

i'd have liked to see how many k's he could rack up, but i can't argue w/ taking him out.

Wow. Nice line from Hill. Gotta love that. I wish he would have done that in Sacramento when I was watching.
