Ok so here's the deal:

I was at a little league game last night. I was video taping. There was a disputed call at home plate on a wild pitch. It was a marvelous slide and it looked to me like the kid got around the tag and the pitcher tagged the ground. Now the controversy was this: The umpire motioned "safe" and said "out" very quietly. It was extremely loud there so no one heard him say "out". Later in the inning, when everyone thought there were 2 outs, the ump explained the out call at home. Though this may have not been the matter of who won or lost the game, what do you think? I say safe.

I say safe.

More importantly, tell the batter to TUCK IN HIS UNIFORM!

yea, he's the only one that doesn't tuck it in and his dad is the coach... :lol:

Lets just say I'm not a big fan of the coach

It was a quality play by little leaguers though.

Had it been the Cubs with the bases loaded and two out in the 9th with a 3 run lead, Dempster would have thrown strike 3, a passed ball by Barrett, he would retrieve the ball, throw it into CF, Piere would over run it, go back and retrieve it, noodle arm it to Neifi, who would drop it, then pick it up and throw it into the stands allowing all four runs to score, the fourth of which Barrett would slug as he crossed home plate. Fact or fiction?

I think he was clearly out. If you slow it down (or pause it at just the right time), you can see that the kid tagged him right as he put his arm down, and right as the runner's leg was about a foot from the plate.

"Who have been the champions the last seven, eight years? Have you ever heard the Yankees talk about on-base percentage and walks?" -- our brilliant manager

Sorry for the off topic post;

But wow, did dusty actually say that?

:cry:

I thought it was pretty clear he was safe. His leg goes between the legs of the pitcher.

Nah, I'm pretty sure the kid sliding's leg is hitting the leg of the guy blocking the plate there. He looked out to me.

It looks like he got his foot in before the tag but it also looks like one of those calls where the ump might call him out just because its a close play and the ball beat him there.

Why didn't the fat kid that was batting move?

Based on his size, I don't think he's backed away from many plates in his lifetime.
