According to the AP, the Angels have called up Jered. He'll make his debut tomorrow night.

Esteban Yan was DFAed.

Does Hendry know what a DFA is? If not, he should learn about it because we have several players that clearly need to go.

the cubs didn't pass on him right??

i recall weaver being considered a tough person to sign. anaheim was an ideal fit since he's a socal guy. but aren't most of them....

Weaver's numbers in AAA thus far:

4-1, 2.05 ERA, 9 G, 8 GS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 57 IP, 44 H, 13 ER, 4 HR, 66/8 K/BB, .214 BAA

Sexy line. The PCL is a hitter's league, so his only blemish (HR/9) might be more a result of pitching in bandboxes than anything.

No, they didn't. Jered was drafted in 2004, he fell to #12 - the Cubs didn't have a first rounder that year (thanks to LaTroy).

weaver looks quite good. so does kendry morales.

the angels have a bunch of kids in there tonight. aybar, morales, mcpherson, weaver and napoli, and is on their way to their 4th win in a row.

Yeah, he certainly was impressive last night. Jered is going to have a better season than Jeff, at this rate. Kendry certainly has been impressive too.

I think Billingsley will get called up soon by the Dodgers.

Weaver got sent down today. Really stupid decision IMO.

The decision to send the younger brother of Angels righty Jeff Weaver to the minors was a tough one for general manager Bill Stoneman and manager Mike Scioscia. Jered Weaver, the team's No. 1 draft pick in 2004, was 4-0 with a 1.37 earned-run average in four starts after his promotion on May 26.

And I thought Hendry was the stupidest GM in baseball.

The Angels just want to give Jeff a few starts, hoping that he'll have a good outing or two and someone will trade for him.

He's pieced together a few good outings recently.
