I just realized that he's not leading the team in runs scored anymore. Aramis has scored more than him now. Aramis, with his horrible start, hitting anywhere from 4th - 5th for the most part, with what's supposed to be the low OBP spots hitting behind him, has scored more than Pierre has.

Pierre needs to go. Leadoff man is supposed to score alot, but you can't score if you're not getting on base. Not that any of you needed to hear this to come to that conclusion.

I don't know if you or anyone else has noticed this, but to me, I think Pierre has lost a step down the first base line. I can't tell you how many times I have seen a relatively slow chopper on the left side of the infield from Pierre where I was thinking, " Oh, he'll beat that out" only to see him get thrown out by a step and a half. He just doesn't seem that fast to me, at least not as fast going down the line as he looked in Florida. (If there are any strat-o-matic veterans out there, I'd tag his speed right now at about 1-14). He's still proficient at getting good jumps in his basestealing, so his % is good there, but it looks like he's slowed down speed wise. He is currently leading all of MLB by a wide margin in groundouts. He has about 90, with Luis Castillo ranking second with about 70.

I'd guess that his inability to beat out a lot of these hits might have something to do with his low average. The fact that he never walks coupled with his awesome outmaking ability has resulted in this terrible situation we now face with him.

Pierre will be gone by July 31, Then hopefully we'll finally see what Felix Pie is really made of

Then we'll get to see how badly our coaching staff can screw up another promising prospect.

I think you might be on to something.

But then again, it could just be the tall grass.

2 RBIs for Pierre so far this year is absolutely pathetic. Edited by Fro

I just don't understand why there is such a void in ML baseball for good leadoff men.

I mean, there are plenty of FAST players. Speed is all they look for in camps, and organizations will draft a guy if he can run - regardless if he hits/throws like a Nancy.

Find a fast guy who knows the strike zone, drill into his head the importance of taking a walk and working the count, teach him how to steal a base.

Doesn't sound that freakin hard.

Jeez, sign Rickey Henderson for the love of God. Light a fire under someone's ass.

Dude, you have to get a vet in there like Hairston or Bynum. I'll just let Pie pitch hit at times I think he'll succeed.. Just like I did with Theriot.....
