In before the inevitable lock.

EDIT: I wrote this in the other Rock Bottom thread in the Minor League section before the two threads were merged.

Hendry did make a couple of bad moves this offseason: Perez and Rusch should of not been signed to 2 year deals. I would of been able to except it if they were 1 year deals, but now who is going to take these guys knowing they will have 1 year left on their contract? NOBODY

Not sure what kind of money is at stake in ratings, but yeesh:

Teddy Greenstein[/url]"]Bottom line, the Cubs' popularity has taken a giant hit over the last two years. In 2004, Cubs games drew an average rating of 9.1 on WGN/WCIU and 6.5 on Fox Sports Net. (One ratings point equals 34,380 Chicago-area households.) This season they're at 4.9 on WGN/WCIU and 3.4 on Comcast SportsNet. So the audience is down about 45 percent.

The fans are speaking, but no one is listening.

I keep thinking I've hit rock bottom but the Cubs just keep on pulling stunts like today and I just keep going lower and lower. When will it end?

It's most important for setting advertising prices and revenues. The Super Bowl is one of the most-watched events every year, which is why the NFL is allowed to set obscene prices for advertisers to buy spots during commercials. The higher rated a show is, the more money it can bring in because the broadcasters can charge higher prices for it.

If this trend keeps up, they'll make less money off of broadcasting the Cubs.

You would think....that if that trend continue....that changes would be made....but wait...this is the Cubs....NM...

My "rock bottom" would be to run out of beer before a Cubs game is "officially" over. Haven't happen yet....knock on wood...sorry Kerry.
