Alright, none of us want to give up a ton of top prospects to improve the team. So, in this thread, let's try to list the situations that Hendry might be able to take advantage of. For now, let's put aside whether or not the person is a good fit or exactly how much it would take to get them.

Team: Washington

Player: Ryan Church

Why is he available: Bowden is stupid and doesn't realize Church's value. He and Frank Robinson apparently don't get along well either and is now in AA despite being an .800+ OPS caliber outfielder with a good OBP.

Team: Pittsburgh

Player: Craig Wilson

Why is he available: His TTO style of play clashes with "Tracyball", and with Casey soon to return he is out of a position with Casey at 1B and Burnitz in RF. He's also an impending FA that Pittsburgh may want to get something for before he leaves since they are out of the race.

What other situations could we take advantage of?

NY Yankees Starting OF= Terrence Long, Melke Cabrera and Bernie Williams.

Surely the might listen to offers of Jones or Pierre.

Team: NY Mets

Player: Cliff Floyd

Why he's available: The Mets have a backup of OFers and are likely looking for some pitching. Floyd is also a FA next year. Despite his poor start, I still think he could make a good platoon partner for Murton.

Baltimore: Established trading history with Hendry, could really use some quality starters to take advantage of having Mazzone in house; their closer is looking fantastic, but the bridge from starter to closer is non-existent.

I still like the notion of taking a run at Tejada.

Baltimore is very much a candidate for a rebuilding process, so they may be shopping him again soon.

If Philly's price for Abreu becomes reasonable, he'd be another guy to target.

Hill for Patterson. :|

Do you think Corey could learn to play 2nd like his brother? That would make the deal a no brainer for Hendry.

I don't think they would take Pierre, but Jones is a definate possibility.

They have been infatuated with Pierre in the past.

To left, Pierre to center. They need to keep Bernie out of the OF at all costs.

NO, NO, NO, goony. Pierre in Left, Johnny in Center, and Bernie is RIGHT....what FANTASTIC arms the Yankees could have in the OF  I actually would love to see the three ballplayers who throw like girls, (sorry girls who post on this site) in the same OF. Oh....the hilarity.

I think the best deal the Cubs could make is to unemploy Mr. Hendry and Mr. Baker. IMO all else is moot. Plus, I don't want this team to come up with any kind of excuse like "We played 500 ball after going 4-49".

pittsburgh stinks & wilson makes $5 million. the cubs could trade cedeno for him, and get a 115 point jump in ops. he's due to be a free agent after 2007 correct?
