Hopefully, this ridiculous argument can now be put to rest.

And throw in the "When we get Lee and Prior back......" one also.

Thank you.

The only reason I like that argument is if it can successfully be used to oust Johnnie B. Baker. This team is not talented enough to turn it around and, I was lucky enough to play golf with a scout for the Cubs the other day and he said for the most part, the players have already given up and could care less.

The difference is that they had a few decent pitchers, we don't, with regularity. There's no one on the starting staff that you can go to and be confident in a solid effort on a regular basis. At this point, we have "inconsistent potential." Enough said.

Wow, I was surprise it took this long for us to bring this up again.

I only pray that this will happen. It would making walking on water and the parting of the Red Sea look like child's play.

How is Lidge doing this year? I haven't followed the Astros much. He was a big key to their success, as much as I despise him (just jealous).

Because the Cubs suck a whole lot more than the Astros did. Oh, and the manager has about 1/2 of a brain cell.

Allow me to finish that thought:

".....we will suck only slightly less."

Imagine for a second that Lee doesn't get hurt. Do the Cubs still lose 15 of 20 or whatever in May? Perhaps not but I don't see why things would be that much better. The Cubs had Lee last year and still managed 2 different extended losing streaks.

Give the Cubs Lee all season and Prior and they're still no better than 3rd place.

They had 3 extended losing streaks. 7, 8 and 8 games. And they had a career year out of Lee, and a top of the line Ramirez.

Garner leads 1/2 to 0

He was struggling for a while and actually was temporarily removed from the closer's role. Since then, though it looks like he has rebounded and has pitched well.

Even if we very generously assume Lee is worth 3 runs a game by himself, that's only 6 more wins since he got hurt. The team has still been playing ball well under .500.

3 runs a game!!! I know you are speculating but that would be amazing!
