So wait.

They're going to protest the Tribune by going to the ballgame and giving the Tribune a whole bunch of money? :-k

Posted
It would be funny if they could get a lot of people milling about outside the gates, disrupting the flow of fans into the game. They should all bring a copy of the Daily Herald to read while standing there.

While I know it would never happen, how funny would it be to turn on a Cubs game to see NOBODY in the stands?

If this .400 or lower winning percentage continues, you'll be seeing games with 10-15k+ empty seats.

That would be a better protest. "Stay at home" day. You'd have to get a lot of publicity about it, and obviously not everyone would do it, but the visual of near empty, or even half empty stands would be pretty impressive.

What about having everyone wear "Cubs Suck" shirts?

I'd really prefer something more specific:

Dusty Sucks

Hendry Sucks

Trib Sucks

Neifi Sucks

Jacque Jones Sucks Against Lefties

Rusch is Fat

etc.

To me the Cubs as an entity suck so a shirt that says "Cubs Suck" is specific for me. But to your point I suppose everyone could just make their own and if they want to call out a specific sub-part of the group that's perfectically acceptable.

This team and franchise are really beginning to get a black eye from their dealings with the media, the fans, and their mismanagement of players.

This ship is sinking slowly, I think.

I won't take credit for this suggestion, but someone had mentioned a walk out in the 6th or 7th inning, that way all the "fans" from out of state, Rockford, etc. could still attend part of the game.

This is probably a more realistic scenario then expecting no one to show up.

It would be great to see everyone walk out at the same time.

No, the problem is that someone wearing a "Cubs Suck" shirt is perceived as a White Sox fan, a Cardinals fan, etc. If you are not specific in your complaint against the Cubs, it will be assumed that you're a supporter of another team.

If you wear a shirt that says "ANDY MacPhail SUCKS," then those that see it will understand that you, a Cubs fan, are expressing displeasure with your team.

This protest was hatched on the Cubs.com message board a few weeks back, and it seems to be picking up steam.

As far as T-Shirts go, I'd just print one up with the Cubs logo in the background, with the words "TIRED OF LOSING" in big bold letters in the foreground.

What better game to protest on than the one on Fox?

I would love to join it. I'm assuming it will be a peaceful protest? With licenses and whatnot? Although I would not mind a violent protest, since it would send a stronger message.

While it's a nice idea, the game could be so bad by that point that no one would really take notice of a large group of fans leaving the stadium.

I am just thinking this protest thing through. I don't want to turn out like the Blackhawks. No one goes to the games so the owner has no money to spend on players. It is a standoff until the team gets lightining in a bottle like the Sox. But a lot of it started with Ozzie. I don't trust the Cubs to get a good manager.

The Blackhawks are owned by one cheap old owner. The Cubs are owned by a huge corporation. Huge corporations don't like declining profits, especially ones that are already not doing that great financially.

Unless they can still be profitable like the way Wirtz is. You don't think Wirtz is losing money do you?

what about vowing to not buy anything from any company that advertises on WGN radio and t.v (Comcast also) during Cub games.

There are too many advertisers. You gotta go straight at the orgnization. I don't want to mess around. Boycott's rarely work.

Please put the Cubs up for sale to pay off the one billion you owe the IRS. Mark Cuban please help!

Anyone want to impersonate a six year old with poor penmanship for the purposes of writing a letter begging Cuban to buy the Cubs?

It might not work, but hey, sappiness is always worth a shot.
