There was this guy on WGN's sport central and he said he got a tape of Woods outing against lansing. He said that whatever they did with his mechanics worked wonders. he said that his ball is moving more than anything wood has thrown in the past including the 20k game in 1998. He said they took tapes from the 98 season to tried to get his throwing motion back to that.

I am very glad he changed his mechanics. His arm is too great to waste away to bad mechanics. Wood has always been one of the toughest pitchers to hit. Now he might even have more control with better mechancis. Can't wait for him to get back.

Hitters in that game looked baffled. It wasn't until Kerry started tiring that they started to be able to do anything at all with his pitches. Granted, it was single A ball, but it was still fun to watch.

My buddy video'd a couple of pitches. If he ever sends it to me, I'll post it.

This makes me happy. I LOVE Kerry Wood! I hope he comes back...has an amazing summer....and remains a Cubby for the rest of his career.

I know I might be in the minority in wanting this. But I can't help it.

You chose not to hang out with the rest of the awesome nsbb'ers there?

Nathan, gotta love ya man, but even I'd tower over him!

And I'm very short.

Unless you belong to a sorority I don't think there is any excuse for that.

I DOUBT you are in the minority (except for using the term Cubby/Cubbies). I think most people want Kerry to be a Cub for life, because that means he's pitching to his potential which is elite-type stuff.

Isn't this about the 4th time Wood has changed his mechanics?

I think only once - last year.

You really don't like Wood do you?

perhaps the reason Prior is taking more time is because he is also working on changing his mechanics as well. Just a though. I know both Wood and Prior have some injuries they are coming back from but with all of these low pitch throwing sessions the Cubs seem to be taking a lot longer to bring back both pitchers than in previoius years.

At the very least I hope this change in Wood's mechanics help keep him healthy all season long and he comes back dominant.

I always thought they said Prior had "flawless" mechanics. After reading Goony's analysis last week, I truly think Dusty damaged him.

I agree with what Goony's post. Dusty definitely had a huge hand in those injuries. But I've heard a lot more in the past year about how Prior was bringing his elbow too far up thus causing some undue stress on his elbow and shoulder. I can't site anything specific but just going on memory. either way, if there is something to be changed I just was wondering outloud if maybe that's part of the reason Prior is being brought back, what seems like, so much slower than in the past.

I think the Cubs are trying to fix these two for good. ie don't rush them.

If so, then it's one of the first prudent decisions this front office has made. If we can fix them, we have the best 1-2-3 in the NL.

I think that is the plan. Seeing Carlos pulled tonight was also encouraging. Machismo didn't win out for once.

If they're honestly working with the idea of making these guys capable pitchers for years to come, I'll happily wait it out until Prior comes back. A healthy rotation of Prior, Zambrano, Wood and Miller plus Marshall plus Maddux?

DAMN.

in Prior's case this is a really good idea. he clearly has some issues in muscle development or fatigue. Hopefully they have him on a training regimen that will help prevent these nagging injuries.

You can't help but wonder if Prior stopped taking some of the supplements that House apparently pushes on young pitchers and now has to build up strength honestly to maintain his recovery time. This is pure speculation based on what I've read about House recently.

I say give Prior some HGH. He would be unstoppable! And it would be unprovable.

If these new mechanics cause Wood to become a better pitcher, its going to be unprecidented.

Unprecidented as the first time the Cubs organization has ever benefited a pitcher.

LOL. Actually by trading away their good young pitchers they greatly benefit them. At least they have a chance of getting a ring.

Then they should've shelved Woody immediately last year instead of letting him pitch in the pen.

That is one of the many idiot Cub moves I'll never forgive/forget.

I'm definitely with you on this one. Kerry Wood, when he's on, is about as fun to watch as any pitcher I've ever seen - not to mention as dominating. I would love for him to be absolutely lights out the rest of the year, and stay with the Cubs for his whole career.

Now is this going to happen? Not a chance in Hell. But I can still hope.

Are you kidding!?!

If his calves got any bigger, they wouldn't be able to find sock to fit him. No HGH for Prior, plz.
