Would the Mets, fresh from losing Zambrano, part with David Wright for Aramis and Marshall? Marshall could become expendable if any of the other rookies stepped up, and would be the odd man out whenever Wood, Prior, and Miller are all back. Or am I just crazy?

No, the Mets have absolutely no interest in trading Wright.

Minaya has said that he is the cornerstone for the future in NY.

How is it that you know they have "no interest"? Nobody in this game is untouchable if the right deal comes along.

David Wright is about as untouchable as they come. He is the centerpiece of their whole marketing scheme. The fans chant MVP when he touches a bat or a ball (they did that in week 1), and buy his jersey/shirts by the dozens.

He was brought up through the Mets organization. The entire fan base has waited for his opportunity to play. Now he is returning boffo rewards for his team. And they are just crazy about him.

The Mets are in 1st place and have no reason to make this trade. They would end up adding at least 11million in payroll. They also already have several cheaper deals on the table to replace zambrano.

Minaya should plan to move to a country without extradition if he even speaks of trading Wright.

This made me think of the Great Warren Zevon....Send Lawyers, Drugs, and Money.

You're right. However, the Mets won't trade him unless they're robbing us blind. Therein lies the problem.

Neifi is untouchable. He saved the Cubs. :D

If the Cubs did get Wright I would be an excitable boy.

Your also talking about replacing Victor Zambrano. This is not exactly a tall order for a team with lot of money to spend. Hell Rusch is a pretty close replacement for him. They survived with him, why give up maybe the best young player in the game to replace him?

I guess its nice to dream.

I'm sure we could get Minaya to trade him. You just have to sell the deal to him right. Everyone's got a Wright jersey now. Trade him for Aramis, then that makes how many million fans out there that will have to go out and buy another jersey? The added payroll will pay for itself in no time

The Mets would make that deal as soon as the Cards trade Pujols for Maddux and Neifi.
