Not sure if this has been posted or not.. Maybe it has..

Just to cheer the board up a little bit.

Schaumberg: Assigned the contract of RHP Nigel Thatch (Rookie) to Fullerton of the Golden Baseball League in exchange for 1 pallet (60 cases) of Budweiser beer.

No joke. 2nd one down.

Let's not get greedy. Let's ask for one keg.

if it makes anyone feel better, the guy the cubs traded for freddy bynum -- he of the sub-.600 OPS -- threw 8 1/3 innings of one run ball in arlington.

Exactly where would you have liked to have inked him into the rotation, 10th???? Zambrano, Prior, Wood, Maddux, Hill, Guzman, Marshall, Rusch, Miller???

Who did we trade for him?

Koronka

Hendry fleeces another team. One day we'll speak of the Bynum trade in hushed tones the same way we do Aramis for Hill or Lee for Choi.

Pitching isn't that big of a problem.

You aren't going to win too many games when you only score one run a game.

any trade that brings in freddy bynum is a bad trade. i'd rather have koronka in iowa than bynum in chicago.

doh. that's right. I really don't care. Koronka's not going to be good anywhere.

Then again, we could have gotten someone better than bynum for him.

He was out of options, hence the trade.

I agree. He could have been packaged with some other arms. Just because we don't need 10 SP doesn't mean we should just give them away.
