Rolen was also valued far more at the time than Ramirez was.

Supposedly Benson was all but traded, but then he got hurt. The Aram deal had to be thrown together very quickly afterwards.

 

The real culprit allegedly was that PNC park was $30 Million over budget, from the Pirates perspective. We had paper due towards this debt and had to pay it.
