Meh, could be worse. At least no Neifi.

How could it be better, given our personel with Barrett out after the night game?

Restovich for Walker and Neifi for Ronny. I like this lineup

Those substitutions make it better?

I just can't get excited with a lineup that has Hairston hitting 6th. I know there isn't much more Dusty could have done but its still not good. Guzman better be ready to pitch today...

Where would you hit Hairston?

Woo-hoo!! Murton up to 5th in the lineup, Jones is 7th, Hairston 6th, Hank White in the 8 hole. No Neifi! Go Dusty! Go Gooz!!!!!!!!!!

1. Pierre-CF

2. Cedeno-SS

3. Walker-1B

4. Ramirez-3B

5. Murton-LF

6. Hairston-2B

7. Jones-RF

8. Blanco-C

9. Guzman-P

Pretty good lineup. The only nitpick I have is Jones starting against a lefty at all. Considering their lack of lefthanders in the bullpen, it would be ideal to bring him off the bench. I hate to say it, but if Restovich isn't going to start, I'd rather have Hairston in right and Neifi at second than Jones in right. Neifi is a better hitter against lefties than Jones, which isn't so much a compliment to Neifi as it is an indictment of Jones.

Absolutely not. My original point was that this lineup isn't too bad and that it could be worse. Someone responded saying how it could be better knowing that Barrett would be out with yesterday's late game. I responded by saying that Neifi and Restovich could be in there instead of Walker and Ronny to make it worse.

OK? Everyone up to speed on my misc. ramblings?

Although he doesnt' have much power, at least he has some plate discipline and has performed well so far. And it is better than Jacque hitting sixth and Neifi being in the lineup.

Minor quibble: You'd think with all the LHP we're facing we could get Restovich a start over Jones.

I think Dusty playing Jones against the slew of LHP the Cubs have faced so far hasn't helped Jaque's cold start.

From ESPN 1000. XRays on Michael Barrett's finger were negative. He is listed as day to day but will not play today...

Pistolcub42 posted this on another thread.

St. Louis and Cincinatti winning AGAIN.

They're both playing lousy teams.

At least Milw is losing

At least Pitt's losing. We don' t want them making a late-season comeback.

Let's hope they keep that up over the weekend, eh?

I know, but I wish they'd play down to their competition.

I'm not worried about the Reds, it's not a question of if, but when with that pitching.

The Cards on the other hand are winning with Edmonds and Encarnacion struggling badly. Granted Pujols has been red hot. Rolen is out with an illness, and Pujols was IBB'd with a RISP today. The crowd booed, but they'd better get used to it.
