My hope as to the starting lineup:

Pierre, CF

Cedeno, CF

Mabry/Restovich, 1B

Ramirez, 3B

Barrett, C

Murton, LF

Hairston, RF

Perez, 2B

As Bad as Dusty sometimes is...I don't expect him to go with 4 outfielders and no SS. :D

grrr.

And you quoted the wrong "hope" lineup.

I have this ugly feeling that Dusty will remove Walker because he's lefty, but leave in Jones to face Willis, mainly because Dusty is an idiot.

Walker has hit Willis before. I think he stays in. Jones probably earned another start with his HR. Tomorrow, I think you may see Restovich in there in RF.

Dusty does have a penchant for giving ppl a rest right after a big day though. :P

MY fear is that Dusty will sit Ramirez sometime and put in Neifi. Talk about a power differential. *shudder*

I don't think so. Ramirez is our only true power threat with Lee out and even Dusty recognizes that.

You know what would make it easier to fill out the lineup?

Never considering Neifi to start.

I fail to see what is wrong with starting Neifi against a pitcher who he was 3-3 against in the past.

Neifi Perez started at second on Monday but Jerry Hairston Jr. was expected to start Tuesday and Wednesday against Florida's left-handers.

"Everybody's going to play," Baker said, "and it's going to be day to day. That's how it is. We have to adjust. I spend more time making out lineups -- more time than I normally do."

That's encouraging, but why do I get the feeling that Cedeno wont be playing in both of the next two games?

I don't know, considering Neifi has started for him, what, ONCE all year?

Law of averages that is what is wrong with starting Neifi. Neifi has a certain level of suckitude that is going to show itself.

I hope you are right, but lately it seems like Ramirez is a bit of a weenie when the weather is cold. I wouldn't count on much from him tonight. Hope I am wrong.

1) Sample Size

2) Neifi should never start. Ever. 8th/9th inning defensive replacement is ALL he should ever be. If he does start (which he shouldn't), never bet him higher than 8th.

3-3.

The simple fact remains that you should not fault a manager for starting a guy against a pitcher that the guy has gone 3-3 against in the past.

It's a PERFECTLY REASONABLE decision given the scenario.

Anyone who picks at it is doing so as part of some sort of agenda.

There are so many Neifi threads to argue this over...can we not use the game thread for it?

Especially since there isn't a lineup out yet and hence this argument is premature.

Here's one you can use....

Hey Cheesehead. I did watch INDVD last night and it is better then the 720P that ESPN was showing. It was pretty damn cool!

Fearless predictions:

Williamson pitches in relief tonight

Marshall goes 6+ innings

D-Train goes 7+ innings

Juan Pierre steals a base

And Walker gets robbed of another hit.

Yes! 1080i is amazing when broadcast with the correct cameras and pushed into your home with the correct signal.

To date, The Masters was the most impressive form of sports broadcast in 1080i. CBS does a great job...I wish ESPN would start 1080i and if FOX would ever invest in high end cameras it would be tough to get work done due to the amount of true HD that would be available.

Good to hear bro, good to hear!

I just got my TV on Friday and I love it! I'll put this TV against any besides the Qualia. Worth every penny I spent! Discovery HD does a fanastic job also. "Sunrise Earth" is a boring program but the visual's are just outstanding! Can't take my eyes of the screen...

It's not a question of 1080i or 720p. The problem is that ESPN and the satelite companies (DirecTV and Dish) are compressing the heck out their signals and degrading the picture.

CBS' 1080i looks so good because they don't try and jam the signal into a smaller space. For example during football season they only show 1 to 3 games at a time in HD while Fox crams 6 HD games into the same bandwidth using different compression schemes.

Over the air HDTV is the best way to get it. 720p from an ABC station can look great ("Lost", "Alias" and Monday Night Football) while 720p from their sister channel ESPN or DirecTV might not look as good.

Also Fox went cheap when they moved to HD: didn't buy the best equipment. garbage in-garbage out
