No one does, but Neifi's starts at 3rd when Aramis is hurt. If you want to spin those starts as Dusty preferring neifi do so by all means, but this year Dusty has used Neifi just about as appropriately as one could ask for. No one's attacking anything about you - but your argument with Neifi starting 3rd doesn't apply to the 2b situation.

And you're right no one knows who would start at 2b those games. I'm sure one would have been neifi and one would have jerry. regardless even if Aram was healthy and Neifi started BOTH games you would have

10-3-1 still just swapping Neifi and Jerry. That is unless Neifi can play two positions at the same time.

Exactly.

Better luck next time.

this is cute. you accuse me of throwing a spin on something, but then you do the exact same thing. i'm done arguing with you, as you obviously can't do so without being hypocritical.

nice use of the end of my post there, though. glad to see the originality in there. (before you post it, here you go: omg but u used my just an fyi!! ur a hypocrite!!)

I think you should do your research before commenting on "better luck next time".

Neifi started against the reds because Aram hurt his butt muscle. Our only other 3rd basemen is lefty and we played two lefty's.

Just an FYI.

I think you should quit assuming I don't know these things. I am well aware that Neifi started because Ramirez was hurt. That doesn't take away from the fact that he still started - how do you know Neifi wouldn't have started at 2B instead of Hairston if Ramirez was healthy?

But yet...your posts insinuate that you "know" that Neife would have started over Hairston if Ramirez was healthy. When you don't.

exactly the point of my prodding. he seems to doing everything he can to say that Dusty has been going out of his way to get Neifi playing time, when it seems to me Neifi is being used rather wisely thus far. a spot start at second, a spot start at short, two fill in starts at third and some replacement time in injury situations/blowouts. that's essentially the definition of how a utility infielder is supposed to be used.

I'm not spinning anything. I agree 100% with Fred that Neifi is not getting the preferential treatment that he got last year. You spun an argument to show that neifi still started. The numbers prove no special treatment no matter how you slice it. If you assume Aramis is healthy Neifi gets the same 3 starts he got when aramis wasn't healthy. What spin am I trying to do? There is no spin and no hypocricy. LAst year Neifi was favored, this year he really hasn't been. And when he was brought in "for Lee" he responded with a run scoring defensive play and an offensive spark the next inning. Sure blind squirrels can find nuts every once in awhile, but it happened so complaining about the insertion of Neifi into a game in which he positively contributed doesn't make sense.

I liked the end of your post and had a good mocking/condescending tone to it so you should feel complimented that I copied it. You can use the end of any of my posts ltb.

Damn, it's getting a little hot in here.

I know....everybody needs to CHILL the heck down. Losing the best offensive force on the team for 2 months, is NOT a good reason to be bickering towards one another, like we are White Sox fans. We're better then that.

you THINK you're better than that.

Well, in day one of life without Lee, Dusty started Hairston at 2B against a lefty and moved Walker to 1B. We'll see what happens tomorrow against the righty Ponson. I'm hoping he goes with Walker at 2B and Mabry at 1B.

Good deal. I don't mind the idea of Hairston on 2nd and Walker at 1st.

That would be my fix as well, but I doubt Dusty sees it that way.

Wouldn't mind Neifi in late-inning duty, but I think Hairston is the odd man out with the Dusty dice.

I think it was only because a lefty was on the hill yesterday.

Last night, Len made it sound like Walker would be the primary 1B for now. I'm interested to see what he does.

I'd rather not see Neifi, but knowing Dusty...

I posted this in the game thread, but Len Kasper was on Talkin Baseball this morning and said that Mabry would be playing 1B today - Walker 2B - Blanco - C. The tentative lineup is in the game thread.

Agreed. There just aren't a whole lot of attractive options right now. Any lineup sans Neifi is probably decent considering our situation.

Well, that's exactly what Dusty did.

Against the right-handed Ponson, Walker played 2B and batted 3rd with Mabry at 1B batting 5th. Cedeno hit 2nd. Not bad. I guess when Baker has clear options, he knows which one to take. Maybe, just maybe, he isn't as stupid as some people have made him out to be. We'll wait and see what he does tomorrow.
