While manager Dusty Baker thinks Jones may be putting pressure on himself, he also sees the talent.

"He's hit some balls hard but doesn't have anything to show for it," said Baker. "He's in a new league, then he got hurt. The thing now is just to get him back to being Jacque."

ugh. Which of those pop flies and strikeouts did he hit hard? and why would we want him to be Jacque? Does every veteran hit the ball hard and have nothing to show for it?

Whoa whoa whoa. Back off the Hate Jacque Jones bandWGN. He went 2 for 3 last night and has raised that stellar batting average of his to .190.

I'm just kidding. Go ahead and bash him.

What in the world do you want Baker to say to the press about Jones?

Baker isn't going to rip on Jones to the media.

Baker isn't going to rip on Jones to the media.

"The book isn't out on him yet"

"His throws tail away from the first baseman"

"He's not going to win any gold gloves out there"

During his hitless streak to start the season, I seem to recall many hard-hit balls coming off his bat. Not saying Jones is good, just saying he did fall on a bit of hard luck.

You are correct. He has hit some balls hard, just right at people. Wow, I just defended Jones.

All highly critical quotes, I'm sure.

that would be in the half of his ABs he didn't strike out in?

I have read somewhere that to do the same thing over and over but expect different results each time is the definition of insanity.

This is Jones (and the Cubs' organization's) biggest problem. He's coming off two bad years, and really really wants to start playing better, but he's not changing his approach in the least. He's just hacking. that's insanity to keep doing that every at bat and not expect the same P***-poor performance.

Given that, it's early, and we have a number of key guys sucking *** at the plate...Ramirez, Jones, Pierre, etc. There's plenty of time for them to find their stroke.

Jones has struck out 4 times this season against pitchers other than the reigning NL Cy Young award winner. even including Carpenter's working of Jones, he has struck out 1 in 4 plate appearances thus far.

in addition to hitting balls hard right at people, he hasn't received any cheap hits either. bad luck hitting on both ends.

Jones sucking isn't a luck thing. He's not a good hitter. That tends to weigh on your numbers.

Can someone please tell me what Hendry was thinking when he signed this guy? It not like Gene Clines is some kind of hitting guru that can save people's careers. Aren't there enough mediocre outfielders that could hit 20 HR and .250 avg, that we could have signed to a 1 year deal? Isn't that who Burnitz is? Im sure he would have signed a 1 year deal. Why sign a crappy guy to a 3 year deal. Its sickening and every time I have to think about it, it drives me to maddness **pulls out hair** AAaarrrGGG

WHY!? WHY!? WHY!?

Get a load of this,

here is what sportsline's fantasy analysis says about JJ:

Don't give up on him yet. It's a good sign that Baker still has faith -- you should, too.

ROFL
