"Our bullpen was not the way we had scripted with guys going two [innings] and then you can't use them the next day," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said. "Aardsma was throwing the heck out of the ball at Triple-A. That gives us another quality arm down there. [Roberto] Novoa came in [sunday] and did an outstanding job, and hopefully Aardsma can do the same thing until we get whole again."

Aardsma, 24, had not allowed a run in seven innings over five games for Triple-A Iowa and had two saves and 11 strikeouts.

"We want him to come here and throw the ball the way he's been throwing down there," Baker said.

Acquired from the Giants in May 2005 as part of the LaTroy Hawkins deal, Aardsma was 0-1 with a 2.89 ERA in 10 spring appearances this year. He pitched in 11 games for the Giants in 2004.

He already is. He made an appearance with the Giants vs. the Astros in 2004(I think 2004).

Interesting, since you're the one who decides when they get pulled from the game, Dusty.

I just don't understand how he can blame (seemingly) everyone except for himself for the problems that crop up with the team. It's amazing that no one else can share in the problems.

Aardsma should stand on the mound like that when he is getting the sign from the catcher. He might make a couple hitters laugh to hard to hit the ball.

He'll move to first on the the alphabetical list of Cub players, an honor he might hold for some time.

Former #1: Bert Abbey, who pitched for the Chicago Colts back in the 1890's.

Former first of the modern era: sidearm reliever Ted Abernathy.

Last of list of Cubs and all major league players is Dutch Zwilling.

I know, I'm just saying that is was his first.

I guess I could've clarified that.

I'm angry that my avatar was stolen...again... :x

I'm sure Mr. Aardsma is angry that you stole his mugshot

I'm sure that Aramis is angry that you are stealing pictures of his pose.

And I'm sure that broom doesn't appreciate you stealing his likeness.
