Here's hoping the D-Jaxx continue their winning ways on Cub-draftee-that-got-away Micah Owings.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Hill and Mateo can do. I'd like to see Grant Johnson atone for his poor showing in his first start, too.

Pie and EPatt are off to good starts. Harvey is still striking out a lot without walking, but at least he is hitting okay. Montanez continues to hit well. Can't wait for Dopirak to return to see how he fares. And I'm anxious for Mark Reed to return full time to the line-up as a catcher.

Well, those are the storylines for me.

Montanez is pretty hot out of the gate. Does anyone know how he is defensively in the outfield? Could he handle CF?

Ron can give a better answer than I can, but Luis has made the transition from SS to the outfield look pretty easy IMHO.

ugh, all night games I'll miss. I hope Grant Johnson can start turning it around now that he's supposed to be totally healthy.

The reports from last summer was that Luis was a natural in the outfield, and was a very good corner outfielder with a strong throwing arm. He's never had much speed, though, and I don't think has ever played any pro CF.

I don't think CF is ever likely to be a position that he plays much at the big-league level. I doubt he'll ever list as a big-league team's #2 CF, much less it's #1 CF.

He's not a CF.. never will be a CF.. he needs to be put in left or right. He has done well in the outfield to this point. He has a strong enough arm to play in right, but is more suited for left...

That's my personal scouting report on Luis (not that I am a scout.. lol)

Can he hit for enough power to be a corner outfielder?

I meant 2000 instead of 2003. I just checked and Luis is 25 now. I thought he was a lot older than that. Hopefully some of his talent will be useful at the major league level.

Most likely not.

The current hope is that he'll manage to hit well enough to be a decent utility OF. Considering what happened to him at SS, that outcome would be most welcome.

He's not sitting out for any reason. and he is also not the full-time catcher. Muyco has started every game against a Lefty so far with Reed starting most the games vs righties though Morgan started one. We have 3 catchers so there is more of a rotation than having full-time catcher.

Thanks. It must have just been a series of lefties in a row or something. I'm really interested to see if he can hit this year. His pedigree says he should, but so far, he hasn't produced at any of the lower levels.

Any word on whether Pawelek is expected to join Peoria at some point or will he be going to short season?

That's the other reason I didn't make the trek down to Peoria for the game today.
