I still would like to see Aardsma promoted (if he gets regular pitching time).

Over Gooz??

Yeah, Aardsma would be a reliever. I want Gooz starting, not relieving.

I mean if you send Weurtz down, who would you rather have called up first. I knew he was a reliever.

Murton looks at too many strike 3's....if he has a weakness, it's that he doesn't swing at the close ones on a 2 strike count.

it's not a weakness. that's what happens when you're patient like that. you end up getting strike 3 called a lot.

I prefer that to waving at stupid crap and getting strike 3. Besides, my theory is that patient hitters end up getting some leeway from the ump on 2-strike counts. If he doesn't swing, the ump might be more likely to call it a ball because of how patient the hitter is.

agreed. murton has no problem hitting with 2 strikes. if anything, it's when he swings early in the count that he grounds into outs. every once in a while he jumps on a fat pitch early on, but I prefer his wait and see approach.

I don't want Gooz relieving in the big leagues. If Wuertz goes down, I am assuming the Cubs will want a reliever, so I'd promote Aardsma. If the Cubs send Rusch to the pen (ha!), then I'd promote Gooz or Hill to the rotation (I'd go with Hill first, since I think Gooz needs some more innings to build up arm strength and shake off some rust).

I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

How about Wuertz down, Gooz up, Rusch to the pen? :P

When Wood comes back, either Williams or Rusch should be bumped to the pen. Someone will have to be sent down, and Wuertz has options. It will be he.

Is the most recent update still that he will have another simulated game and then a minor league start or two, bring ing hm back April 30 or first week of may?

The Cubs might've sent down Wuertz after today regardless. With just 6 in the 'pen and no long relief, they'll need an arm with Williams and Rusch pitching this weekend.

Right now that appears to be the plan.
