Do we know for sure that Jaque's injury won't put him on the DL?

If he does go on the 15-day, who gets brought up?

Do they just get it all over with and bring up Pie.

Or do they hold off on his arb clock and let him continue to develop in AAA and go with someone like Restovich or Sing instead?

Probably going to go with Sing or Restovich and start Pagan/Mabry.

It wouldn't be restovich unless it is something that would put Jacque on the 60-day DL. Restovich would have to be added to the 40 man roster, so someone would either have to go on the long-term DL or someone would have to be removed.

that takes out Sing as well. Pie is the only OF not on the active roster that is on the 40 man, if Jacque is DL'd bring up da gooz, or hill and make Glendon the mop up guy in the BP.

Ah, didn't know that.

The other possibility is that the Cubs bring up a pitcher to fill the 25 man instead of a hitter. They'd still have Pierre, Murton, Mabry, Pagan and Hairston to cover the OF.

I think those guys can do the job. Hairston needs PT anyway.

I agree. At the moment, Jones is listed as day-to-day pending the results of an MRI. We should know more in a couple of days about if there will be any stay on the DL and if so for how long.

I wouldn't bring up Pie unless absolutely necessary until at least late-June. And he would have to have shown improved plate discipline in order to warrant the call. Hopefully the Cubs won't need him and he can get a full season at AAA with a September call-up.

I'd bring up Pie for the DL stint, if that happens. It won't hurt him. He'll still play everyday, and gain valuable experience. Just let him know he'll go back to the minors when Jones is back.

Sorry if it was posted elsewhere but Pie's weekend went like this: Over the past four games, 10-for-17 with six runs, a double, two triples, a home run (Grand Slam) and 11 RBIs, including nine in the past two games. He's also 3-for-3 in stolen bases a Game Winning RBI in the 11th Sunday, and is currently batting .476

More importantly for Felix, is the 2 walks and only 3 K's so far on the season. That's what I'm happiest with, hopefully he continues to make a lot of contact and keep all these XBHs.

Let Pie continue to build confidence at AAA. Give Pagan the time in RF because he is a better fielder than Hairston with a little more pop in his bat. Call up Hill to pitch in the rotation instead of Rusch.

I agree with almost everything except for the part about Pagan having more pop that hairston. Pagan is a singles hitter, when ha manages to get a hit, which isn't all that often. Don't let the ST numbers fool you.

The Cubs are very thin. This injury is the reason some of why some wanted Sing or Restovich.

I agree we need to bring up more pitching like Guzman or someone. filling in Hariston, Mabry, Pagan is not the end of the world.

Call up Pie. A two week cup of coffee isn't going to hurt his progression, and the way he's hit this spring and so far in AAA, he may be ready.

Although, typing that, Murton better keep going. I could see Jones replacing him when he's better if Pie is raking.

But if the Cubs can hold off in bringing up Pie until May 1 (I think), then that postpones his arbitration clock from starting and gives the Cubs control over him for another year. If he is really as good as thought to be, that is a pretty key consideration.

If they went to 12 pitchers I think they'd call up a reliever--Aardsma or Novoa--rather than a starter to take Rusch's place. My personal preference would be to have Felix Pie do a Wally Pipp job on Jacque Jones.

Have I mentioned Felix is my starting CF and went deep 4 times last night against the Reds? I have him batting #5 right behind Aramis.

Side note: Matt Murton is not on MLB 2K6 (Xbox). Anyone know where I can get an updated roster that includes him?

If that's true, then by all means hold off.

Normally, a player has to be down for at least 10 days to start the season for his service time clock to be pushed back. If the player is recalled within 10 days of the start of the season and remains up the whole year, he's granted a full season of service time. If the team waits more than 10 days to recall him, then he just gets the daily credit.

I believe there's an injury exemption to this rule, though.

Plus, as long as they send him back down fairly quickly he probably wouldnt become a super 2.

I really want to see what Pie can do at the major league level. If we don't bring him up, who would play RF until Jones returns? Hairston?
