So I went to opening day at the New Busch yesterday. I must say, I walked in with huget anticipatation...the outside looks spectacular, but once I got it I was kind of let down.

Don't get me wrong, its better than the old place..but I've been to SBC, and Camden Yards...and the Cell...and I think its much more like the Cell...with the Cell having some advantages. Its not as "open" from the concourses as I expected it to be...its fairly difficult to get around. There are a lot of good aspects and a nice family area for toddlers which my 19 month old son enjoyed but I was expecting more.

I figure there weren't to many NSBBers there...but I'd be interested in hearing everyone else's thoughts as they filter in throughout the year.

I personally loved it. I would never compare it to the Cell, but unfortuneltly I have never been to PNC, Citizens Bank,or whatever the heck the one in SF is being called this year, so I can't really compare from personally experience on those since those are the most commonly stadium compared to it.

I liked the Ford Plaza (the area in the outfield that is opened up). And I also like the area on top of the stadium where there is plenty of room to roam around) if you choose to do that. There is a lot of places for SRO, but you better stay within those areas or they will run you out. No problem with that.....but some of the areas where no standing is allowed, there didn't seem to be any reason why that area could not be used. I love the brick pavers. I looked all over last Tuesday for mine but never found it, but luckily I got the map for it on Friday so it was easy to find. We had walked in the stadium right about where it was last Tuesday. The View is fantastic, but that will really become more of a factor when the Ballpark Village goes in. It was kind of neat, at the beginning of the game, there was no sign on the old Marriot, but during the game, the new Hilton sign went up, so you could see the progress of the sign going up during the game. OK maybe thats not exciting really, but its symbolic of whats going on down there.

I've got several more trips coming, so I am sure I will have more to add later.

Really the only problem I have with it at this point is the huge foul poles. There is one seat directly behind it. I feel really sorry for that poor soul.

I'd agree that the Ford Plaza was nice...the thing I didn't like about the outfield...and that ford plaza area...was that there were structures there which blocked the view of the field from there. That's my main beef with it....same thing on the lowerlevel...all the concession stands are on the inside walls so there isn't a ton of open viewing of the field from the concourses...Its a nice park...I just wasn't blown away.

On TV it looked a whole lot like the Giants stadium to me. (Like Chief Cardinal, I have no idea what it's call anymore. It will always be Pac Bell to me.)

I typically would avoid a game in St. Louis like the plague because I hated Busch, but now I'm actually excited to go check one out.

For now it's AT&T Park.

I'd just call it Phone Company Park now to be safe.

That's the way to do it.

That would make it PCP...quite fitting considering it is in San Fransisco. :D

I took off of work and went to the noon game today.

My impressions...

I thought the park looked outstanding. It's not gaudy and in your face with over the top bells, whistles and gimmicks...they kept it classy and simple, yet state of the art.

The brick totally kicks butt.

We bought standing room only tix and watched the game from all over the place. We'd watch an inning or two and walk somewhere else and watch.

There is some excellent standing room behind home plate. Great view, down low at field box level.

The scoreboard and video wall is awesome.

The open outfield and view of the city and the arch is eyepopping....especially since old Busch was enclosed...it's a great change.

Watching the game today was a true joy. I am going to three more games so far, and I can't wait.

I just wish they had the whole park done. They still have a lot to do. A handfull of sections don't have seats yet and the area around those seats isn't done either. Not all of the shops are done either.

Two huge thumbs up.
