Ironically, the Cardinals are getting smoked by the Cubs as of lately.

After the 2005 All-Star Break to now, (17 games aganist each other) the Cubs pretty much dominated St. Louis as of lately.

12 wins out of 17 games played.

i have to tell you wrigly feeld is a totall dump and its full of drunk a-holes. i went there and i had my edmonds jersey on and i clapped when scottie hit his hr. but then wen jones hit his all the fans around me started yelling at me and saying mean stuff and one guy even threw some penuts at me. and then when barret hit the gs they did it again, they were all like, "yo edmonds stnad up and clap for that edmonds" and one guy knocked my nachos out of my hand, well either that or i dropped them, but i'm pretty sure someone knocked them out cuz i almoet never drop nachos. anyway, that place is a dump, and cubs fans were all drunks and stuff like that never happens in stl.

So, what exactly are you saying here? :eyeroll:

The grass in Wrigley is too long! :)

I'm not worried about the Cards pen yet, but I am worried about how much the Cubs pen has improved

Yes, the Cubs 'pen looks miles better. Looper and Wainwright looked good. Isringhausen? What's up with walking the bases loaded?

I expect they'll (Cardinal 'pen) be much better after LaRussa figures out who's going to take which role, but that performance by Isringhausen was very bad. Is he hurt?

One of my friends calls me in inning 1 immediately following the Rolen HR: "wanna bet on the sweep?"

He calls back in the 5th after Pujols singles in a couple: "it's over"

I call him following Barrett's granny. Voicemail.

The bolded part is my favorite.

I have never seen Izzy that off with his pitches before. First I wondered why Izzy was un-intentionally-intentionally walking DLee, but he was just as off to A-Ram.

Crazy.

One of my friends who teaches down the hall is a Cardinals fan. He arrived at his room this morning to find a picture of Dusty with the Sweeper taped to this door. I've sent students to his room all morning with brooms asking if he needs anything swept.

The Cubs treat the series with us like the World Series. To the Cardinals, it's all business. Just another game.

That's so true. I get emabarassed sometimes by how geeked up some of us get when the Cards loose (or get swept). All I can say is the phrase "Act like you've been there before" applies here.

For example of Saturday: who was that dude in the first row right behind home plate who jumped up and down like a squeeling little girl at a Backstreet Boys concert every time the Cubs hit a home run? He looked like a complete ninny.

I'm not saying we all need to be robots, but sometimes I think anyone wearing Cubs blue needs to be issued a chill pill whenever we beat the Cards.

He was giving an excuse/comment that a Cards fan might use...

Cards looked past it us, had their mind on the new stadium.

...and the showers. Hope they were ice cold for Jimmy tonight!

What was funny after the game last night we started walking to take a look at the bleachers and what not, sure enough there was a plumber's van in one of those gates. Probably because good ol' Jimmy was complaining a couple days ago.

A ridiculous excuse at that. Cards fans(no offense meant to the good people here) are so high up on their self-made pedestal that anybody actually into a game is considered low-class? That they haven't been there before? Cardinals fans can act like this was our world series and that they have bigger fish to fry, but it just kills them inside that we swept them. That's why they're all having their ritual suicides on CardsTalk.

Ripping on fans for being excited about their team, really just blows my mind.

Isringhausen looked terrible. Is he hurt? I've never thought of him as an elite closer but he's usually at least somewhat effective.

Speaking of the game, what's with Joe Morgan saying something that makes sense. When LaRussa brought in Isringhausen Morgan said he understood bringing him in to face Lee & Ramirez

The Cards bullpen has been the key to their success the last two seasons. This was just one series but if their pen doesn't get better they could be in trouble.

Really having a tough time understanding fans scolding other fans for getting jacked up about this series.

1) The Cardinals amost always contend, or win the division.

2) Cardinals are Cubs' bitter rivals.

3) Three games in April count the same as three games in September.

4) Cubs have not swept the Cardinals in five years. Sad, I know, but consider that they just extricated that monkey from their collective back.

Making statements like "it's their World Series" or "it's only three games" is an effort to trivialize the impact of the games, and minimalize somene's enjoyment or minimalize their own disappointment.

Please, give it a rest. Some folks really get excited about these things, and that's fine for them.

All that being said, it's a long season, and I advise an even keeled approach to the games.

That didn't dampen my enjoyment of this series.

Ive always liked Izzy's stuff in the pen. Last night was really bad, something aint right. TLR going for a 6 out save was puzzling too. The pitch to Barrett was awful. I know it was the 'inning of decision' but Looper must really be in trouble to not be in there. Thats what they got him for right. Lets face it, those 2 guys are their pen, if they cant pitch well, they are in world of hurt. Id be worried about Izzy, could be a false alarm though, we'll see.

I was at the game so I didn't see what Izzy's velocity was like but from what I remember from having him on my fantasy team he seemed like he always started the season giving up runs and then became better after a couple of outings. It was also cold out there so that might have some effect on pitchers. In the past TLR has used Izzy on several occasions for 2 innings. That could also mean TLR doesn't have full confidence in his bullpen yet.
