Count me on board--I was disgusted with the fans treatment of him today. Listen, I get as frusterated as anybody, but come on--he was not sent here to be a savior....it is the 4th game and we are 3-1 and 2-0 against the cards, lets just leave Jack Jones alone and give him a bit of time.

Anyone else remember how many people wanted to run D Lee out of town his first 2 months when it looked like he was hitting with a toothpick and HS Choi was leader the league in homers....

I am not saying Jack will be anything like Lee, but lets just give him some time before we start booing him and comparing him to CPatt

I was at the game today and its pretty clear he's going to be the new Hundly\Alf\Hawkins\C-Patt. Unlike Lee he doesn't have the talent to pull himself out of the mess he's created. He's in for a long season.

not only will I get on board to get this to three pages, I will give Jock some props, as his ineptitude helped the Cubs win this game today. three K's against Carpenter, but 16 pitches.

without those ABs, Carpenter probably comes out for the seventh and the Cubs lose this game.

Jock will be fine. he'll end up giving us what we expected. let's just hope he doesn't continue doing it from the five hole.

Like I said in the gamethread, If Jones goes hitless through next week I will change my sn to douchebagJones. To boo him after not even 4 full games is ridiculous. To boo him becasue of his contract is ridiculous too. He didn't offer it to himself. Give him a chance to suceed and it might help. Remember he has played in 1 city and 1 league his entire career. he might need some time to adjust.

You know you're in trouble when you are being compared to Corey.

If you must use an insulting nickname I think "Jocque" is more elegant.

GO JACQUE!!!!

Why is everybody cheering for this guy?

We are hoping he stops sucking and contributes to the team effort tomorrow. Simple as that.

It's easy to boo and rip on a guy who signed for some dollars and starts slow but....I seem to recall Derrick Lee starting a bit slow last season. Yes, it is apples & oranges but I've never been a big believer in throwing a Cubs player under the truck after 5 games.

Backtracking, the premise of this thread is that if we hit 3 pages then Jacque will get a hit tomorrow. We've hit that mark so we will see if our cyber influence matters, LMAO!

Derrek started off like a house afire last year. It was '04 when he had his typically slow start.

I thought it was pretty classy of the guy to be on the SCORE today after the game. He even commented that he deserves the boos and all he can do is go out and play the game as best as he can, and that he'll turn it around.

The big difference between Jacque and Patterson is that Jacque actually cares. You can tell after his 2nd (maybe 3rd) strikeout today he was VERY upset with himself walking back to the dugout. Fans booing him really isn't going to help. I don't think I ever remember Corey ever showing any emotion or disgust after his numerous O-for games. All I recall is him walking back to the dugout with that smart-ass smirk on his face like it was everyone else's fault but his.

Give Jacque a break, you can tell he wants to do well and he's pressing right now. The boos aren't going to help him. If the guy didn't care, I'd say go ahead and boo the guy. But you can tell he wants to do well, so let's give the guy a chance.....

Jacque will get a hit now, if we cyberfans have anything to say about it.

Honestly, I hate having him on the team and hate his contract, but more than that I don't want another Hawkins/Patterson/Hundley/Alfonseca situation where the hometown crowd boos the guy mercilessly. It makes games very unpleasant and even embarrassing to watch. Jacque needs to get some hits so I can watch games without being embarrassed by the Wrigley crowd's behavior.

Also, how will Hendry ever unload Jacque if he totally bombs? I would hope he does at least well enough to be tradeable.
