maybe the sox luck of last year is changing and tonights rain is the first sign.

99 regular season wins and a 11-1 record in the playoffs is not luck.

You guys are starting to sound like.... Sox fans...

I'm just waiting for one of you to say you'd rather see the Sox lose than the Cubs win. Then we'll know the transformation is complete.

Anyone short of having a biblically superior team going 11-1 in the playoffs requires a lot of luck. Their pitching health and success was also "fortunate". I really don't care about the Sox that much, but much like the Nationals(until they collapsed) last year, it grates on me when their success is misconstrued.

hey, i have no problem with the Sox i'm not a Sox-hater, they were the best team in the playoffs and deserved to win, but a lot of things went right for them last year that could easilly have gone the other way.

I know what you mean. This game does take things going your way sometimes. Luck in the right places can change the way a season goes. That said, every team has good and bad luck. The season is too long to not get some of both.

I remember a lot of Cub fans telling Sox fans to worry about their team and not concern themselves with how the Cubs are doing. It seems like a lot of folks aren't taking their own advice.

Didn't mean to single you out Brian. I know you're a good baseball fan and poster.

I just don't want to see Cub fans get bitter because the Sox had a great year. It'll happen for the Cubs. It has to. I want my Dad to see it.

What do you expect in the situations though? Last year when the Cubs missed the playoffs, all any fan can do is pick a team they win and/or don't want to win. Nothing wrong with that, I don't/wouldn't fault a Mets fan for hoping the Braves got knocked out of the playoffs. Had the Sox been knocked out last year, I also think you wouldn't see near the celebration that occurred when the Cubs lost in '03.

And tonight, it's Opening night and everyone is starved for baseball. The Sox are the only team playing, and many people like the Indians and what Shapiro is doing there. First game you watch, you pick a team you want to win. Surprise, you want the cross-town team to lose(or the well built team to win depending on your opinion).

I hated the bastards long before last year's abortion of a season.

That about sums it up. My hatred for the Sox reached terminal mass long before 2005.

ok, since I am really bored, wouldn't that be either critical mass or terminal velocity?

You're right. I have been up for like 26 hours and I tend to jumble things up when I am tired.

fernando cabrera for the indians and mccarthy for the white sox. just like a spring training game. Good showcase for two good young pitchers.

Well I live in Chicago so the Sox have become my 2nd favorite team.

Not allowed.

I agree. 2nd favorite teams are crap. You can enjoy watching a certain team play but you can't openly root for them unless it's the playoffs and your team is done.

Well they are a distant 2nd. I'm going to the Cards\Sox game this year in Cardinal gear with a bunch of Sox fans.
