This move is not a surprise. We all knew they weren't pitching in spring games this week. With the rules that exist, they both could be eligible to pitch as early as the 10th of April. Neither are expected by then.

Good thing they put them on the DL now, rather than waiting for the season to begin. If either are ready before the 15th day of the original season, they can come off earlier.

I don't know if even the most optimistic of us see that happening.

If either are ready by the 2007 season it'll be a miracle.

Doesn't matter when. They could be retro active to the last time they pitched in a ML or spring game. Or in their cases, as far back as the end of last season.

Actually they can't go bacck that far. They can backdate it until I believe the last five days of Spring Training, which would mean missing the first ten days of the season.
