Here you can get the spreadsheet I put together to track the home run race. Its plain, and basic, but it would do the job.

I'm sure someone can do it better, too.

Marco - nice work on the spreadsheet - sometimes simpler is easier! Now that everything is set up, is there an easy way of importing the stats automatically, or is this something that needs to be done by hand? I'd be happy to help either way, as even updating this many names by hand won't be too big a deal...

Thanks again!

In the discussion of the predictions contest:

MarkPrior's Calves has made the lowest Z ERA prediction at:

6. .338 ERA

meaning that if Z pitches 220 innings, he will allow a grand total of:

approx 8.3 runs....

x*9/220 = .338

x= .338*220/9

x = 8.262222222222222

I doubt it. Splendid work, Marco, I downloaded it and will use it religiously. :D

Having spent the time on the basic one yesterday, I'll do a revised one when the deadline passes. Seeing as I'm not over-whelmed at work at the moment, I'll play around with things, see if I can't get some formulae to do cool things - the first one that I thought was to shade in the cells appropriate to each player, or do a player-use count of some description - Pujols, I think, and A-Rod, are the most popular so far.

Expect that sometime next week. Thanks for the compliments, too. Proof positive that learning about spreadsheets isn't quite as unnecessary as folk make out.

Wow! That's so excellent! Thanks! :D

(and reminder -- the HR Derby entries are due by 5 pm tomorrow -- Sunday)

Derwood, when I post the revised one (that'll probably be tomorrow, I'd think) see if you can get that; if not... we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I'm going to regret overlooking Thome. I picked Fielder because he was the first guy to pop into my head, then saw all the Thome picks and said "d'oh"

I was actually wondering if I should wait on that bonus pick until near the end...nobody else had thought of it before then :)

At this point - sorry, I'll post the revised one tomorrow, time ran away from me while I was watching the Cubs game - ndistops and Outshined_One lead the derby with 6 each.

Right, here we go with the 'completed' file.

This is one host for the file. If you look towards the bottom of the page, there's a countdown. Wait for it to end, then click on the link.

This is on the same host as before. I'll endeavour to keep updated, of course, throughout the year.

By the way, if people spot mistakes (I hope there is none) can you post them in this thread, so that if anyone else is keeping up to date, they can modify, too. I'll post an updated one not long after such incidents, however.

Enjoy.

After Day 2, Mizzou leads with 9 homers. TrueBlueCubFan, Truffle, J-Shils, and myself all have 8.
