I think it will be appropriate to quote Maddux from 2005, "Who's Mark Buerhle?"

Maddux has been pitching well this spring.

 

Maddux also screws around in spring training once he's in shape. He's not going to be throwing game pitches tomorrow. He's hopefully going to be setting up for facing them in the regular season.

 

Because he'd older now and needs whatever edge he can get.
