I can't stand the Sean May style of basketball of throwing your fat ass around the paint to establish position because you know they'll never call the offensive foul on you and then hitting a 5 footer.

so if illinois had glen davis, you're telling me you would want bruce weber to tell davis to change his style of play?

That would be ridiculous, but I wouldn't enjoy watching Illinois play nearly as much as I have. It's why I loathe the NBA.

And comparing Glen Davis to Shaq is foolish. When you're 6'8 and fat in college you can get away with it cause college teams are undersized, when you're playing against elite big men who are 5 inches taller than you, you can neither push them around or shoot over them should you get positioning. Davis will be a huge bust.

And I just cannot understand why people hate on 3 point shooting so much. Why anybody would prefer a big fat guy shooting 5 footers over somebody showing actual skill by making difficult shots is beyond me.

Good ball movement and screening for the open look > backing down with your ass for a 4 footer in my book.

Shaq ruins it for everybody by running defenders over. Most post players don't play that way, and actually have agility, strength and moves inside.

But Dee Brown will be rookie of the year, right? Cuz the NBA is a perfect setting for undersized, streaky shooting guards.

I wouldn't mind moving the 3-pt line back, though.

What's wrong with what SSR said? This has nothing to do with the Illini. Glen Davis is listed at 6'9" (so he's probably closer to 6'8"). At his size, there's a good chance he'll struggle at the next level. He won't be the strongest guy around - like Shaq is - and he won't be taller than other centers. What SSR is talking about is exactly what happened to Robert Tractor Traylor. Sure, Davis is more athletic, but he's still at a major disadvantage when he goes to the NBA, and I don't want the Bulls to take that risk.

I'd rather have Tyrus Thomas (did you know he has tremendous leaping ability?) or LaMarcus Aldridge (no matter how he played yesterday, he'd be a great compliment to Tyson down low).

I'd be thrilled with Thomas, though I question his ability to score at the next level. But that leaping....so tremendous.

College Basketball would be vastly improved if the 3-point line were moved back. It's ridiculous that college seniors shoot 3's from the same distance as high school freshmen. And when teams design large chunks of their offense around the 3 and they end up going cold, they are screwed (Memphis last night, for example). Sure, it can keep you in games (WVU) but I just don't find it that entertaining. It also encourages bad 3-point shots. If an offense is designed well and you get open looks, fine. But some teams just jack up 3's with 2 guys in their face while fading away. That's dumb.

Name one team that does that when the shot clock isn't winding down or they're not trying to get back into a game while they're trailing.

And no, Dee Brown won't amount to much more than an 8th man in the NBA. The relevance of that is completely lost on me though. I don't know if that was sarcasm or not, but the NBA is not a good environment for undersized guards. Dee can't create his own shot, and since the NBA is a series of glorified 1 on 1 games, he won't be able to develop into much.

I can't name you a team who has that as a philosophy, because that would be a dumb philosophy. I have seen many times in the tournament someone shoot a 3 with plenty of time left. It's usually outside of the offense, and usually gets a "that was a bad possession/look" comment from the announcers. Some guys just can't help but launch one whenever they touch it. This is how teams like LSU end up going 1 for 15 from 3....most of those shots were poor looks.

But this isn't a valuable argument. I like one style, you like another, we aren't likely to change eachother's minds. Let's enjoy the games and hope George Mason makes the Final Four for pure entertainment value.

GMU looks a little overmatched early, though Jai Lewis is keeping it close. If they can get a couple of Huskies in foul trouble they may have a chance

That would be true if UConn wasn't really deep all the way around.

Starting five (Brown, Gay, Armstrong, Boone, and Williams) plus a great trio off the bench in Adrien, Nelson (dude is scary looking), and especially Rashad Anderson.

You have to wonder when the REAL UConn is gonna show up and just annihilate a team like they should.

People have been saying this pretty much the entire season, Big East tournament, and NCAA tournament. I don't think it's happened yet.

Seriously, it's like Rudy Gay is wearing pajamas out there. I don't think the Huskies even realize there's a tournament going on right now.

Looks like the real Huskies showed up in the last 4 minutes as they stretched a 2 point lead to a 12 point lead real quick. GMU needs to start the 2nd half hot or they are doomed.
