He's done nothing tonight but go on and on about just how different Japanese and Cuban players are. The best was when he spent five minutes talking about how passionate the Latin players are while the Japanese were very scientific about everything.

Cuba takes advantage of the error at short and plates two quick runs against Watanabe.

 

But he gets an inning ending double play on the next pitch with men at the corners. 6-3 Japan after 6.

Joe Morgan just found five different ways to say that Watanabe looked away too quickly as he was taking the throw so he could find the first base bag. Of course, the replays pretty clearly showed that he just dropped the ball.

 

Despite the two errors in the inning, Japan still leads it 6-3 after 7.

Cepeda pulls a 2-run HR and Cuba is down just one. Time for things to get interesting.

 

And Joe Morgan points out that if they had scored a run a few innings ago instead of hitting into a DP, they'd be tied. Of course, he's been saying all along that the run they didn't score would've mostly been a psychological boost.

9th. It's been a good game, but not all that great. The first inning set a bad tempo for the rest of the game.

My favorite comment of the WBC has to be how Cuban players were like robots because they don't stand out (and don't want to stand out) so they can play as a team.
