what's up with the Japanese teams blocking their players from coming to the US?

 

If Prior wanted to go to Japan and play while under contract, I'd hope the Cubs would try to block him from going over there...

Are these guys under contract? ...or is there some other hang up. I'm not sure how contracts work in the Japanese leagues.

 

1908 likely understands it better, but I think there is a much longer period before they can become FA in Japan. Their teams can choose to post them, but rarely do.

Yes, guys who you hear about being posted are under contract to a japanese team

 

basically when they get posted, the american teams bid to buy the player from the japanese team.
