The Tribune said that he threw 90 pitches from a standing position yesterday. What the?

They said he would be back on his throwing routine on Wednesday. Probably not much effort with the legs, however.

It's 90 "throws" will standing still, not pitches. Nothing remotely close to the strain of pitching on the arm and/or knees.

If they are telling the truth in the first place. It better not result in anything they way they keep acting like it's no big deal. Hopefully he'll be pitching by June if not before. I won't hold my breath though.

Plus, if you add all of the warm up tosses and what not, he probably throws 90 balls during a 30 pitch ST performance anyways.

They won't even give him 90 pitches for his first three outings though

Are you aware of who manages the Cubs?

Regardless, it looks like this procedure WASNT a big deal, and everyone who thought the sky was falling, should go purchase their jump to conclusions mats.

Yes. Absolutely nothing should be read into this injury, due to the almost spotless health history of Kerry Wood.

You're jumping to the conclusion the Cubs are still telling you the truth.

And you're jumping to the conclusion they aren't. So far there's been no evidence that they haven't been truthful in this situation.

I'd be more worried about his arm problems (which have a history) than a routine procedure that most ALL athletes have done to clean out tissue in their knees.

I think "most ALL athletes" is an exaggeration, but I agree with the tone of your post. The proceduce itself doesn't really concern me, and it's common enough to make me think it won't affect him. What I'm still concerned with is his rehab in general from the arm surgery.

Well most probably IS an exaggeration, but it is a very common procedure. I, too, am worried about his shoulder/arm falling off. If he doesn't and he makes 23-26 starts, prior makes 30+ and Z makes 30+, we'll make the playoffs.
