I'm pumped. Can't wait to finally see a WBC game live. Miguel Batista will follow Colon, but the pitching of Johan and Z should really be fun to watch.

Dominican Republic preview"]Second baseman Alfonso Soriano will lead off, followed by shortstop Miguel Tejada and first baseman Albert Pujols. Designated hitter David Ortiz, left fielder Moises Alou, third baseman Adrian Beltre, right fielder Wily Mo Pena, center fielder Juan Encarnacion and catcher Alberto Castillo round out the order.

Venezuela preview"]Sojo said the lineup used in Saturday's exhibition game against Philadelphia would probably be the one he used against the Dominican Republic.

That lineup consisted of Omar Vizquel at shortstop, followed by designated hitter Carlos Guillen, center fielder Bobby Abreu, third baseman Miguel Cabrera, catcher Victor Martinez, right fielder Magglio Ordonez, first baseman Ramon Hernandez, second baseman Edgardo Alfonzo and left fielder Juan Rivera.

"We have some question marks at second base, I may switch Edgardo and Guillen," Sojo said. "Left field I'm going to make the decision. Right now you ask me I'd say yes (the lineup will stay the same)."

Should he decide to go a different direction in left, Sojo has several options.

"We've got Endy Chavez and Robert Perez and Tony Alvarez," he said. "I've got a lot of good players that I can put over there."

Imagine if you subbed Vlad in for Alou and Manny in for Pena...

Tomorrow may be a day I come down with a mysterious illness and stay home from school, most regrettably.

Or, if all else fails, TiVo. But it's just not the same...

is there any innings or pitch limit on the pitchers used in these games? if Soho abuses Z, I suggest we all make an appeal to Hugo Chavez to have Soho mysteriously shot in the face.

get him on the line Sulley.

Here are the WBC rules for pitchers:

A: A pitcher must:

Not pitch until a minimum of four days have passed since he last pitched, if he threw 50 or more pitches when he last pitched;

Not pitch until a minimum of one day has passed since he last pitched, if he threw 30 or more pitches when he last pitched;

Not pitch until a minimum of one day has passed since any second consecutive day on which the pitcher pitched; and

Throw no more than:

65 pitches per game in Round One of the tournament;

80 pitches per game in Round Two of the tournament; and

95 pitches per game in the Semifinals and Final of the tournament.

Note: A pitcher may exceed the maximum per-game limits in order to complete a batter's plate appearance.

There are no restrictions on the use of position players.

If a pitcher is within 20 pitches of a prescribed limit at the beginning of an inning, the Game Operations Technical Committee (appointed to each game by WBCI) shall so inform the umpire-in-chief, both managers and the ballpark public address announcer. The Game Operations Technical Committee shall immediately notify the umpire-in-chief when a pitcher has reached a limit set forth in the Rule (which includes finishing a batter's plate appearance, if necessary), whereupon the umpire-in-chief shall inform the pitcher's manager to remove the pitcher from the game immediately.

It seems strange to have Hernandez @ 1st and Martinez catching. Martinez will be playing some at first this season and I don't think Hernandez is too viable @ 1st.

I can't believe they're holding this game in a spring training facility. They could've filled this stadium ten times over.

Promoting Garcia over Z? Absurd. And he's not even pitching today.

Wonder how much tickets were going for on the secondary market.

Yeah, this is the biggest game of the first round... should have had it at Tampa or Miami's stadium.

Crowd is jacked.
