Where was Omar going?

It looked to me like it was mostly Alfonzo's fault, turning and throwing blind.

Throwing blind? He was planning on throwing to the base, where the SS should have been. It looked like he hesitated late when he saw the base unoccupied. Either way, Omar should have been on the bag, not 5 feet past.

His back was to the bag as he was fielding the ball and he just spun around and threw the ball to second without seeing where the shortstop was. He might have expected Vizquel to be on the bag (and he probably should have been) but that doesn't change the fact that he threw the ball away by acting without looking first. Had he waited he could have just held on to the ball (or perhaps went to first base) instead of throwing the ball away and allowing the runners to advance to second and third.

The umpire despises the outside corner, apparently.

And Alou grounds into an inning-ending DP. I feel like it's 2004 all over again! Edited by Anonymous

Bad defense and a first-pitch DP. I remember Alou!

As my previous comment was, I'm glad he's not a Cub anymore. It's painful enough seeing him on the field anyways.

Johan has just over 10 pitches to go, although he can go over if its during an AB. But I'd have to believe that they'd rather have Z start an inning instead of coming in the middle of one, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

I wanna see him try to throw a runner out at home later.

The homplate umpire has a strike zone smaller than a pea, basicly if someone doesnt swing at it its a ball. Zambrano would have been thrown out of the game by now if he had started.

*cringes* If the ball ever reaches home that is.....
