Rumors out of Kansas City are that he was unhappy with management telling him he had to compete for a rotation spot; also that he was unhappy with the manager and pitching coach's in-game and off day treatment of him.

Needless to say if they want to get rid of him cheap, there are 29 other teams who would be happy to take him off their hands.

Maybe he can convince his buddy Sisco to leave camp with him?

Well, I'm not totally sure what it is all about, but if he is unhappy that becuase he had to compete for a rotation spot, then he's just a prima-donna sissy. What makes him think he earned a spot, especially that he was getting lit up all over the place last year? Based on his performance last year, makes me wonder why he's having a cow about this?

I don't get it either, seemed like the kid couldn't decide how to pitch. He can either paint or throw 98, how can he not get guys out? Seems like a change of scenery guy to me. Would much rather have him than Rusch or Hill.

Maybe he's miffed that he has to compete for a spot in the Royals rotation. Talk about insulting...

That's actually a good point. The Royals are the worst team in the majors. Who else do they think they're going to throw out there?

I think that is his beef.

That's why I'm not in the Royals camp right now.

Looking over their roster, I can see why they would not name anyone as an auto starter. They have a lot of average arms, but a few guys who have had some success, if even remotely at the major league level.

Joe Mays

Mark Redman

Elmer Dessens

Scott Elarton

Then they have inside guys who could compete for spots:

Jimmy Gobble

Andy Sisco

Runelvys Hernandez

Denny Bautista

Mike Wood

Zack Greinke

I wouldn't guarantee a 5.80 ERA pitcher an automatic job.

SURPRISE, Ariz. — Zack Greinke left the Royals’ camp last weekend to deal with ongoing emotional issues, several sources told The Star.

The sources did not specify the nature of those issues, and club officials declined to elaborate on their previous statements.

“I’m just not going to comment on that,” general manager Allard Baird said. “Zack Greinke is dealing with a personal matter. I don’t think it’s fair to the player to comment beyond that, and I don’t think it’s fair to the family.”

You can have emotional or mood disorders without being a prima donna. If that's what he's experiencing, I hope he's in treatment for it.

BBB nailed it on the head. Greinke haven't proven me anything that warranted him to be a starter on the rotation, even if it's one of the bad teams in the MLB today. As I said in my previous post, Greinke got lit up all over the place. And BBB pretty much summed up how I feel. A 5.80 ERA pitcher shouldn't think that he won a starting job automatically.

What about a 22 year old who put up a 3.97 ERA and 1.16 WHIP the year before last? It's stupid for Greinke to get upset about not "automatically" being in the rotation, and it's equally stupid for the Royals not to put Greinke in there considering the alternatives.

Appearantly Greinke has argued with both his pitching coach and manager because both are pushing him to change his mechanics and style.

If someone asked you to change your style after its made you well over a million dollars and you were on your way to more?

Anyway, not that matters but I don't think I'd want Greinke here. He's too homer prone for my tastes to come to Wrigley.

Grienke is an interesting pitcher. In one season he was very good. In his most recent season, he was very bad. He's still very young.

Some teams would love to have him, however. I'm not sure the Cubs have the margin of error to take the risk with him.

Put him with Mazzone in Baltimore or Maddux in Milwaukee and he could return to being an elite pitcher.
