This was mentioned on the Score during an update. Any truth to this?

Yes and no. That's the price for the bleacher box seats in right field, although I don't know if they vary depending upon the type of the game.

I have no idea why anyone would spend 60.00 for those bleacher seats, I prefer the Mezz or UD box for that cost.

They're probably going to appeal mostly to fans over 40 or 50 who don't want the hassle of GA and metal benches. Plus, without the family section in left, that'll be the only real option for families who want to sit in the outfield. But while I loved the family section, there's no way I'm spending $60 to sit in a seat in right field.

I guess it will be worth it for the Cubs. There are going to be 250 of those seats, but I'd have to imagine that you could probably fit 350 or more bleacher spots in their place.

What are Bleacher Box seats? how are they different than regular bleachers? Anyway, if you go here http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/chc/ballpark/seating.jsp

it lists the prices of the seats in 06. I don't know about you guys, but didn't they increase their prices by a lot from last year? They seem very expensive this year! $40 bucks for bleachers during the prime games. Some of the crappiest seats are $30 bucks! Anyway, I just hope I get great seats for the Cubs/Sox and bleachers for the rest. I have a question though... can you buy bleachers online after u get sent through the waiting room, or do u have to go to Wrigley to buy bleachers?

I try not to think about how much the prices went up, but what I especially don't like is that for the past two years, they've really jacked up the upper deck seats.

These are the bleacher box seats going in:

They're reserved seats with backs instead of the general admission benches. I believe they'll go on sale in March.

As for the regular bleacher tickets, you can buy them online.

They've created a special section of seating like Fenway did with the Green Monster seats. So,they charge more. They put special seats behind home plate and charged alot too.As long as people pay the price, they'll keep coming up with these special sections.Remember the prime game pricing on the schedule for a few games. Now there are 44 prime games!

At his first news conference regarding the bleachers since construction to add 1,800 new seats began in October, Cubs executive vice-president of business operations Mark McGuire announced the open "knothole" space in right field won't offer a view from Sheffield Avenue during games, that the Batter's Eye Suite in center field won't be accessible to regular ticket-holders and that the reserved "bleacher box" seats in the right-field corner will be priced at $60.

The knothole is gonna be "closed" during games. You can look in when no games are being played though. Why have the thing then???

He also brought an elderly Cubs fan up to the podium with him, kicked the man in the crotch, and shoved him headfirst off the stage.

You left out the part where he showed us what he really thought of us.

but thats the left center bleachers.

I thought the bleacher box seats were going in on the far right field corner... like above this knothole thing.

You're right. that's just a picture of the molds for the bleachers currently going in.

They're working from left to right, so right field hasn't started to be poured yet.

Bleacher tickets actually received a minimal price increase this season... last year they were $38 for prime dates.

They were only twenty bucks a few years ago. But it's a good thing they've made use of all that extra money.

Yeah...that's the setup for pouring the concrete in.

They did just put pictures up on cubs.com of it, though.

You mean the part where he said the "restaurant" would actually be a luxury suite where regular ticket-holders would be prohibited from entering?

McGuire is a complete ass. He knew damn well the only way he could sell this renovation to Cub fans and the City of Chicago was to present as much of a "fan-friendly" theme as possible. So in other words, he lied. Let's see, no more homerun balls onto Waveland or Sheffield, no knothole to see the game from Sheffield, Bleacher seats for $60, and a massive, garish luxury box in center field.

What a freaking abomination. I suppose I can understand the desperation to make money though, what with the ridiculous contracts they gave guys like Perez, Hairston and Jones.

They added about 7 rows in the corners, which is where most of the home runs that go onto the streets go over. That'll certainly reduce the number of balls going out there, but it'll be no means eliminate them. I'm also not sure how big of a deal that is to most fans.

As I noted in the other thread, those aren't bleacher seats that cost $60. They never were. And the restaurant takes away fans only in the sense that it allows there to be more out there. Or by letting fans rent it out on non-game days. I'm not sure why people expected to go in and out of there with east from the bleachers. And I'm not sure why people would even want to be in there instead of in the seats unless it's raining or cold out.

I'll reserve final judgement until I see the finished product and can get out to the bleachers, but it looks like the renovations are coming along well.

I'm not all that upset about the restaurant either being used a s uite on game days either. Given how other ballparks have done with those, that seems about normal. It appears that it may be functioning as a restaurant on non-game days and maybe even before and after games anyways.

How much higher will the seats be compared to the old fence that held in some balls? Will there be a new fence just as high?

We don't know yet.

That would be ideal. I'd love it if the restaurant was open on non-game days and during the offseason.
