There also is a chance that Kerry Wood will return to the active roster in a setup role while building endurance to return to the rotation — where he wants to be, and where the Cubs need him to be if they are to have any postseason aspirations in 2006.

And if you’re looking for a sleeper to emerge, check out Jermaine Van Buren. Since the 25-year-old right-hander was moved to the bullpen, he has posted a 1.92 ERA with 47 saves, and only 65 hits allowed and 141 strikeouts in 117 minor-league innings. Add in Will Ohman and Michael Wuertz as a middle-innings lefty-righty combination, and this could be a very good bullpen.

WOW... way to be informed...

Like to see wood be a little humble and take extended spring training then head stay out to build up endurance rather than sitting on the bench not waiting to go in.

huh?

According to the Trib, at this point, Wood is likely to start the season in a minor league rotation and not the bullpen.

wonder if he'll start in des moines given that the weather probably won't be too good.

I would hope so because I don't see any way he could "build endurance" while pitching in a set up role.
