dont care, no more football till next year, if then

I suggest you read the very funny and truthful book "True Believers" by Joe Queenan. He's a very avid sports fan who roots for the Philadelphia teams. Among the stories he tells is how after the Flyers blew a 3-1 series lead to the hated Devils in 2000, he got all the Philly sports memorabilia he could find and threw it in a big box, and gave it to Goodwill. He was trying to swear off sports forever. Then, he said he that 3 days later he watched the Pacers play the Lakers, and even though he wasn't a Pacers fan, he had to root for them because of how outmatched they were, and how Reggie Miller was doing all he could to keep his underdog team competitive.

You'll probably find yourself trying to swear off the Cubs or some other team in your life, but it will never work. Sports fans can't help but root for their teams... it is just in the blood.

These last few weeks have been absolutely amazing and much more than I could have expected. And now we are one step away from the Super Bowl!! This one ought to be a really good game I think. I get the feeling Seattle will pull it out though.

Salisbury picked Carolina to beat Seattle, then beat Denver in the Super Bowl. Jaworski picked Carolina and Pittsburgh to win this weekend on PTI yesterday.

At some point, the Panther bandwagon at ESPN has to get one wrong...right?

Salisbury is an idiot. I'm guessing somewhere during the show he said "it's like shooting fish in a barrel, it's easy."

I hope the Steelers get completely blown off the face of the Earth on Sunday. I tried to root for them, but I refuse to anymore. I go to work yesterday, and all I hear is.

"Hey, what happened to those Bears?"

"DA Bears. HA HA HA"

Every single person in the office said something about the Bears losing. Every single person was saying all last week that the Steelers didn't have a chance against the Colts. Then they come off with a "Told ya so attitude."

It would be one thing if the Steelers beat the Bears to get to the championship game. But it's a completely different conference. There's no rivalry. No animosity from past contests. No reason to even be concerned about the Bears.

But since I was greeted by so many idiots at work, I hope Denver (who I despise by the way) runs circles around the Steelers.

I wish I had the conviction to swear this team off. It's like smokers who wish they could quit but can't.

This team will be the death of me.

Go Seahawks too! Its kinda funny to see Alexander in the press conferences this week. He seems so much more personable while concussed. THe team as a whole seems very relaxed and motivated. I disagree strongly with Mizzou (no offense) that this game will be boring. Both defenses "fly to the ball" and are known for their athleticsm. The Seahawks offensive line vs the Carolina D line should be a good matchup and Jones vs Peppers should be a highlight (it will nice to see a pancake by Jones).

My prediction: 17-13 Seahawks. Hasselback 19-28 257 1TD to Jurevious and Alexander has 16 rushes for 82 yards and a score playing less and giving Morris/Strong another chance to shine. Delhome has a decent game but gets picked twice (once by Trufant on a pass to Smith) and Smith will finsih with 5 catches for 68 yards. Trufant and Boulware will shut him down (relatively) but Goings will have one run to make Seattle nervous.

Kinda like Dwight Schrute when he crashed his car and got concussed.

5 points for the office reference.

It looked like that when he was celebrating on the sideline.

Jake Delhomme is now the highest-rated passer in the history of the NFL postseason (min. 150 pass attempts). Pretty much sums up my feelings on the guy.

Haha, awesome.

Will Alexander, Morgan and Peppers play?

I haven't heard anything to suggest Morgan and Peppers won't play for Carolina, and Alexander seems pretty dead set on playing as well.
