Last year it was on sat of Grand Prix weekend which is this weekend so yeah it was in april 2nd to last weekend of april.

Now that the Cubs season is over, I can fully focus on the Bears' offseason and the Bulls postseason (wont take too long before thats over as well).

Looks like Thomas Jones dropped his agent and is now being represented by the one

the only

Drew Rosenhaus

Indy is interested in a trade.

Things are getting spicy.

I am feeling pretty good about the deal. Manning is an ideal nickle back in the Cover 2. He will easily be an upgrade over Azumah(At least his play last year). Nickel Back is a very important position in Lovie's D. The NB in the Bears D is on the field a lot.

The NFL in general overvalues draft picks. The draft is largely a crap shoot and for every Lance Briggs in the 3rd there are 20 Torrence Marshalls. The chances of us getting a player of Manning's caliber in the 3rd were pretty slim. Therefor there isn't much risk here and I see it improving the team.

Not an outstanding deal, but one that will improve the team.

Agreed the draft is more of a crapshoot that most realize. I think it was Kiper who called the Briggs pick a reach. Hah.

is this the same soul from the main bear boards? Or is this just a coincidence?

The same. I criticize the home team when they're doing bad here, too. So you might have to get angry with me again, Slick 8)

Now that the Cubs season is over.....
Hmm, I obviously fell asleep for a few months. Last I remember it was April, and injury or no injury, the season obviously isn't over in April. Apparently it must now be August or September.

Ah, never. I don't really care that much about the Cubs, but I like criticizing Dusty Baker much more.

Nice to see a friendly face.

So if we get RM Jr., do we still take a CB in the first round?

It's possible. The Bears are in a position to take the best player available, even if it's a WR, CB, LB, or whatever. The salary they'll have to pay won't be a cap-killer and they could benefit greatly from depth at certain positions.

I personally would love to take a WR in the first, then a TE/CB in the second. I figure Jackson, Moss, or Holmes should be there at 26, and if not, I still like the 6'8" Marcedes Lewis for TE.

The whole "best player available" thing is a farce. Everyone says that's what they will do----few actually do it. Plus it's completely subjective; your 'best player' is different than mine, and so on...

The Bears have been loading up on Carolina CBs this offseason. If we sign Manning, I would be shocked if Angelo took yet another, especially considering our dire needs on offense and the fact that we would be drafting and paying a 1st rounder to sit the bench--possibly forever.

We most likely trade out of it, or take Vernon Davis if he somehow by some miracle drops to us.

I don't think Davis will fall out of the top 10, let alone down to 26. Marcedes Lewis is an incredible athletic specimen. I still say Jackson, Moss, Holmes, and Lewis are the 4 best bets at this point. I'd prefer a WR at this point.

It is different for each person and team. However, much like the MLB draft, every team has a rankings board for every player in the draft, no matter how unrealistic it might be that player will fall to them. When their pick comes around, they will be taking the top player on that board no matter what.

Let's make this a somewhat easy comparison. For argument's sake, we'll have the Bears' top two needs at WR and TE. Let's also say that they have a certain player ranked in the Top 15 (OLB Ernie Sims would make a nice example). Somehow, during the course of the draft, Sims manages to slip his way down the board because teams are opting for other players; this is expected since the draft always has guys who rise and fall.

When Sims reaches the Bears pick, Leonard Pope and Sinorice Moss are the top two players available at WR and TE. However, the Bears have Sims ranked above both players and have him as the top guy on their board. Who are they going to pick?

I grant you, it is a simplification of what happens, but it's a good example of what can happen during the course of the draft. And while there is some measure of subjectivity, there does seem to be a measure of agreement among teams when it comes to who the top players are; especially in the first round. It's not like we'll see Reggie Bush taken #1 overall followed by Erik Meyer and Brandon Williams at #2 and #3, ya know?

I'm guessing most teams have similar Top 50 lists, albeit with some differences in rankings and players who may or may not be there (some teams will avoid potential draftees with criminal backgrounds, for example). There is a degree of subjectivity to it, but it's not something so wild and chaotic that it's all a matter of perspective.

Ha that is hilarious. Im very happy were gonna probably get him though for just a 3rd pick. Hes at least as good as Tillman or better. Do we go TE now or CB first round.

I agree. Getting arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after savagely beating a man who was minding his own business it nothing but hilarity.

I hope we can void this contract offer somehow but we probably can't.

Manning was arrested in Los Angeles Sunday. He was arrested on suspicion of assault following a fight at a Denny's restaurant near the UCLA campus.

Mistake #1 was eating at Denny's.

I've never had a bad time when eating at Denny's was involved.

You're not black are you?

I thought he was referencing the quality of the meal as opposed to the racist behavior at some of their locations. I don't know much about Westwood, or if that Denny's location has had similar problems as the ones involved in earlier disutes.

Fun facts

During the 1990s, Denny's was involved in a series of discrimination lawsuits involving several cases of servers denying or providing inferior service to minorities, especially African American customers. After settling a class action lawsuit for $54.4 million, Denny's rolled out an industry-leading racial sensitivity training program for all of its employees. Denny's has also improved its public relations image by featuring African Americans in many of its commercials, including a commercial featuring Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford (both actors from the popular The Jeffersons television show).

In 2001, Denny's was chosen by Fortune magazine as the "Best Company for Minorities," and has consistently remained near the top of the list since. Although its image has not yet been completely untarnished, Denny's has made great strides in eliminating discrimination.

On March 15, 2006, a man opened fire in a Denny's in Pismo Beach, California, killing two people and seriously injuring two others. The shooter also died, from a self-inflicted wound. This was the first of three fatal shooting incidents to occur at Southern California Denny's restaraunts in consecutive days. In Ontario on March 16, a 37-year-old man was fatally shot in a Denny's parking lot Thursday after a fight. Then a gunman opened fire early March 17 at a Denny's in Anaheim, killing one man and seriously wounding another.

I don't know about all that. I think people were really down on Tillman, but I think he's better than that.
